Last Tuesday our Pastoral
Council had their first
meeting of the new year.
Three new members were
introduced: Nijole Balciunas,
Steven Matas and Giedre
Matas. The Council discussed
its role in the parish, and
I felt it very important to
share with everyone the role
of our Pastoral Council.
The primary
responsibility of the
Pastoral Council is to
advise me on all matters
regarding our Parish. I
bring to the Council issues
brought to me by the
Diocese, the other Parishes
in Collinwood, and the staff
for consideration. The
Council studies issues,
discusses them and makes
recommendations on these
matters.
Another major
responsibility of the
Pastoral Council is to
represent you, the
Parishioners of St. Casimir.
Your ideas, concerns and
suggestions are always
welcomed by the Pastoral
Council. No issue is too
small or insignificant to be
addressed by the Pastoral
Council, so I urge everyone
in the Parish to be open and
communicate with any member
of the Pastoral Council
regarding your thoughts as
to what is best for our
Parish.
A third major
responsibility of the
Pastoral Council is to
assist me in my role as
leader of the Parish. They
are charged with bringing
people together to
accomplish the goals we set
for our Parish. I have come
to rely on the Pastoral
Council for the assistance
they offer and I urge
everyone in the Parish to
cooperate with the members
of the Council as they carry
out their work and to bring
your ideas and concerns to
them so that together we can
continue to grow as a
vibrant Catholic Parish
Community.
God Bless! Fr. Joe

3rd ANNUAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL
Saturday
and Sunday, January 24-25, after
all the weekend Masses,
the Altar Society invites everyone in the parish to the
lower hall to savor a hearty bowl of soup (your choice of
two kinds) with bread, and to spend some time with your
fellow parishioners. Eat in, or take a container home. Adult
donation is $5, children under - $2. Proceeds go to the
Altar Society operating fund for 2015 and are used to
purchase needed items for the Church.
PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
At
last week’s Pastoral Council meeting the following were
elected officers: Deacon Louis Pecek - chairperson, Rimas
Cepulis - vice-chairperson, Jackie Caruso-Taylor - recording
secretary, and Grazina Kudukis - corresponding secretary.
Meetings will continue being held on the first
Tuesday of each month at
7:30pm in the Rectory Conference
Room.
ST. CASIMIR PARISH COOKBOOK
The
Fund Raising Committee of the Parish Council is putting
together a Parish Cookbook this year. They want your
tastiest recipes. Look for recipe collection sheets in the
book room. The committee would also like parishioner ideas
for the cookbook design. To offer ideas or work on this
committee, contact Ted Kowalski at
216-383-6508 or

ST. CASIMIR’S FEAST
On
Sunday, March
1st,
we as a parish will celebrate the Feast of St.
Casimir, patron saint of our Parish and of
Lithuania. On Sunday,
March 1st,
we will celebrate one Mass (bilingual) for the
entire Parish at
10:00am.
For those unable to participate at this Mass, we
will celebrate our
Saturday
evening Mass at
5:30pm.
After Mass, we invite everyone to our Upper
Hall (gym), where brunch will be served. Tickets
to the brunch and program will be available for
sale next weekend: after the weekend Masses at
the main entrance of the Church, in the Lower
Hall after the
10:00
Mass and at the rectory during the week. Adult
tickets are $10 and children 12 and under are
free. Only 200 tickets are available, so we urge
you to purchase them early.
We encourage everyone in the parish to come
together to celebrate our heritage and our faith
and share these gifts with each other. |
CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS
Annual contribution statements for 2014 will be available
after January 15th, and will be sent only to
those who request them. Those wanting a statement can call
the rectory during business hours or drop a note in the
collection basket.
SING A JOYFUL SONG UNTO THE LORD!
Calling
all parish singers to come join in the parish choir. If you
have sung in a group before, if you are familiar with
singing harmony, consider joining the parish choir.
Rehearsals times are before Mass. If you are interested or
have any questions, contact our parish music director, Roma
Bandza. Join the choir and help make 2015 a year of song at
St. Casimir‘s!
DECORATION REMOVAL
This
Sunday, January 11, after the 12:00 Mass (about 12:45pm) the
Altar Society will be removing the Christmas decorations
from the Church and putting them away in the church basement
for storage. We could really use a few extra hands to
complete the job quickly and efficiently. Please come and
lend us a hand. Thanks!
BECOME A
HOSPICE VOLUNTEER
Hospice is a
philosophy of care, not a place. We care for our patients
wherever they call home. As a vital part of our team,
volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of
skills, talents, and abilities. Opportunities to serve are
diverse: visit patients and families, help with legacy work,
transportation, light housework, preparing meals, clerical
work and advocacy work. Volunteers with specialized
qualifications and training are also needed. Volunteer
education is held frequently throughout northern Ohio. Teen
and most volunteers not having contact with patients take 4
hours of training while patient care volunteers have 16
hours. For information, see:
www.hospice.org/volunteer/volunteer-opportunities
or call them at
800-707-8922,
