 (LOTS OF) HELPERS NEEDED

THIS SUNDAY:

Church decoration removal

With the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on January 9th, the Christmas season comes to a close. We are looking for volunteers to come to the church after the 12:00 Mass this weekend to help take down our Christmas decorations. The more helpers we have, the quicker the work will get done.

NEXT WEEKEND:

Ordination Anniversary help needed

Next Sunday, we celebrate Fr. Bacevice’s 40th Ordination Anniversary. We need your help next Saturday and next Sunday to set up the hall, serve the food, and help clean up afterward. We also need bakers to bring desserts and pastries. If you are willing and able to help out, please sign up at the main entrance to the church.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

On Wednesday, January 11th, we will have our Eucharistic Adoration from 6-9pm. We invite everyone to stop in and spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are able to make a commitment to be present in the Church for adoration, please sign up in the Book Room.

CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS

Parishioner contribution statements for 2016 will be sent out on request. To request a statement, drop a note with your name and envelope number in the collection basket or call us during office hours (Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm). Statements will be sent in the mail.

BISHOP LENNON

By now, I am sure you have heard that Bishop Lennon was granted early retirement for medical reasons by Pope Francis. At the same time, the Holy Father appointed Bishop Daniel Thomas, Bishop of Toledo, Ohio, to be Apostolic Administrator of the Cleveland Diocese. In his role as Apostolic Administrator, Bishop Thomas has Pastoral Authority and Pastoral Responsibility for the diocese. He will continue in this role until the Holy Father appoints a new Bishop for Cleveland. Let us pray for Bishop Lennon as he enters retirement that he can take care of his health, and let us pray for Bishop Thomas that he will be a caring pastoral leader of our Diocese.

RETROUVAILLE WEEKEND

Have you become so distracted by outside pressure that you neglect your spouse? The Retrouvaille program can help you put your troubled marriage back on track. This program is supported by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, but is open to couples of all faiths. The next Cleveland Retrouvaille will be held on January 20-22, 2017. For more information and registration, contact Liz Gliha at 440-357-6580, or 1-800-470-2230, or go online to www.helpourmarriage.org

Last Tuesday, our Pastoral Council has their first meeting of the new year. At the meeting the following members accepted leadership positions on the Council:Ted Kowalski-chairperson, Loretta Gudenas-vice-chairperson, Ingrid Civinskas-corres-ponding secretary, and Anthony Bacevice-recording secretary. The members of our Pastoral Council for 2017 are: Maureen Anderson, Anthony Bacevice, Ingrid Civinskas, Loretta Gudenas, Ted Kowalski, Maryann Pecek, Faye Roth, Maria Santana, and Debra Zeledonis. Meetings will continue to be held in the first Tuesday of each month.

As this new year begins, I feel it is important to remind everyone of the role of our Pastoral Council. The primary responsibility of the Pastoral Council is to advise me on all matters regarding our Parish. I bring to the Council issues brought to me by the Diocese, the other Parishes in Collinwood, and the staff for consideration. The Council studies issues, discusses them, and makes recommendations on these matters.

Another major responsibility of the Pastoral Council is to represent you, the Parishioners of St. Casimir. Your ideas, concerns and suggestions are always welcomed by the Pastoral Council. No issue is too small or insignificant to be addressed by the Pastoral Council, so I urge everyone in the Parish to be open and communicate with any member of the Pastoral Council regarding your thoughts as to what is best for our Parish.

A third major responsibility of the Pastoral Council is to assist me in my role as leader of the Parish. Council members are charged with bringing people together to accomplish the goals we set for our Parish.

I have come to rely on the Pastoral Council for the assistance they offer and I urge everyone in the Parish to cooperate with its members so that together we can continue to grow as a vibrant Catholic Parish Community.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice
