January 24 - 25, 2015

Here we are in the middle of winter. The Altar Society is trying to warm us with “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” next Sunday we will be watching the Super Bowl. For the next six or seven weeks there is really not much to look forward to, other than cold and snow. This is the perfect time to plan summer repairs to our buildings.

Last summer we spent considerable money, over $400,000, replacing heating systems, roofing, and alarm systems to the school building to prepare for a new tenant. We also put in a new bell system in the Church. Since then, we completely renovated our Upper Hall (gym).

The Pastoral Council and the Finance Council are working with me to set priorities for this year. I would like to involve all the parishioners in making the decision as to what repairs need to be done this summer. We need to consider the importance of the repairs, the cost, and whether we can afford the repair. If anyone has suggestions for repairs, please let me know.

These future projects are a reminder to all of us to support our parish. Our parish property is a tremendous asset for us and as good stewards, we need to properly care for and maintain it. By all of us committing ourselves to our parish we will be assured of a secure future. I look forward to hearing from you.

                                                       God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

3rd ANNUAL SOUP FOR THE SOUL

This weekend after all the Masses, the Altar Society invites everyone in the parish to the lower hall (cafeteria) to savor a hearty bowl of soup (your choice of two kinds) with bread and to spend some time with your fellow parishioners. Eat in or take out. (Take out will also be available at the main entrance to the Church.) Adult donation - $5, children under 12 - $2. Proceeds will be used to purchase needed items for the Church.

COLLECTION FOR EL SALVADOR MISSIONS

Next weekend, we will accept donations to support our missions in El Salvador. For the past 51 years, our diocese has maintained a presence in El Salvador with priests, religious men and women and lay volunteers. Currently we have three priests serving there. Last year, our parishes collected $132,475 to support these missions along with missions in 23 other countries in Latin America. The cost to maintain the missionaries is $188,000. The Bishop does ask that everyone be generous in supporting our Missionaries in El Salvador.

THROAT BLESSINGS

February 3rd, is the Feast of St. Blaise, the day we traditionally bless throats. In honor of St. Blaise, we will bless throats after all the Masses next weekend. We will also bless throats on February 3rd.

ST. CASIMIR PARISH COOKBOOK

The Fund Raising Committee of the Parish Council is putting together a Parish Cookbook this year. They want your tastiest recipes. Look for recipe collection sheets in the book room. The committee would also like parishioner ideas for the cookbook design. To offer ideas or work on this committee, contact Ted Kowalski at 216-383-6508 or tedkowalski2@gmail.com

ST. CASIMIR’S FEAST

On Sunday, March 1st, we as a parish will celebrate the Feast of St. Casimir, patron saint of our Parish and of Lithuania. On Sunday, March 1st, we will celebrate one Mass (bilingual) for the entire Parish at 10:00am. For those unable to participate at this Mass, we will celebrate our Saturday evening Mass at 5:30pm.

After Mass, we invite everyone to our Upper Hall (gym), where brunch will be served. Tickets to the brunch and program will be available for sale next weekend: after the weekend Masses at the main entrance of the Church, in the Lower Hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the rectory during the week. Adult tickets are $10 and children 12 and under are free. Only 200 tickets are available, so we urge you to purchase them early.

We encourage everyone in the parish to come together to celebrate our heritage and our faith and share these gifts with each other.
