LITHUANIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

Lithuanian Independence Day is February 16th. Our Parish will have the religious celebration of this day on Sunday, February 14th at the 10:00am Mass. We are pleased that the children from the St. Casimir Saturday Lithuanian School will be joining in the liturgy of the Mass that Sunday.

The civic celebration will take place on Saturday, February 20th beginning at 7:00pm at the Lithuanian Hall. Ginte Damusyte, a member of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Corps, will be the featured speaker followed by a program of music and dancing. For tickets ($20 in advance, $25 at the door) call Call Zita Mascinskas (216-235-5212) or Virginija Motiejunas (216-526-5609).

All are invited to celebrate our faith and culture as Lithuanians on February 14th and February 20th.

The 2016 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal actively begings in each parish this weekend. Please refer to the insert in this week’s bulletin which includes parish goal information and an overview of the importance of Catholic Charities in our communities.

This year’s appeal theme is: Love Powers Our Mission. The love of Jesus powers our mission at Catholic Charities. With your help, we reach out to people who suffer from personal loss, disabilities, violence, hunger and poverty. As the People of God we are one human family, with a bond that enriches our society and provides grace to overcome every obstacle. We are called to carry out the teachings of Jesus Christ with mercy, charity, and thanksgiving. How will you respond?

As in the past, the in-pew commitment process will take place next weekend, February 6-7. Those who have not received the mailing from Bishop Lennon, or have not had a chance to respond to it, will be asked to consider making a generous pledge to support the ministries and services provided by Catholic Charities. If you have received the mailing, please respond to it. There is a box on the in-pew envelope to indicate that you have responded by mail.

I invite you to view the stories of inspiration and more information at www.catholiccommunity.org/2016Appeal.

                                                                          God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice
