ROOTED IN FAITH

Last week, we received our quarterly distribution from the Rooted in Faith campaign of $1,542.00, which brings the total we have received from this campaign to $48,906.00. This is slightly more than half of the money we will receive when all the pledges are paid. Every payment you make on your pledge benefits our parish as well as our diocese. 30% of the money given from parishioners goes to our parish to help us with building and property repairs. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible. If you have fallen behind on your pledge, please try to catch up. If you have not yet made a gift to the campaign but would like to do so, or if you would like to make an additional gift, go online to www.catholiccommunity.org/rif/newgift  or contact Angie Pavlik at the Catholic Community Foundation at 216-696-6525, ext. 1303.

THE FEST

As the summer season begins, mark your calendar for the highlight of the summer season - The FEST. On Sunday, August 7th, from 12noon until 10pm join together with thousands from across our diocese for a day of faith, family and fun. The 16th Annual Catholic Family FESTival will be held on the grounds of the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. The FEST features great Christian artists: Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, Matthew West, and Lauren Daigle, and has engaging activities and displays for the entire family. The FEST is free and open to all. The day concludes with an inspiring outdoor Mass at 8pm. It’s the highlight of summer, everything that your family needs for a great family day. For more information, go online to: www.theFEST.us

 CULTURAL GARDENS

The Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation (CCGF) will have its annual “One World Day” celebration at the Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park on Sunday, August 28th from 11am to 7pm. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first garden. Also, this year, the Lithuanian Cultural Garden is celebrating its 80th Anniversary. Many of the gardens, including the Lithuanian garden, will have displays, programs and ethnic foods. All are invited to visit the gardens and enjoy this unique cultural display in Cleveland.

It’s hard to believe that in a few weeks many of our children will be returning to school. For me, it’s a time to plan our religious education program for the coming year.

Parents really are the first teachers of their children and are the best teachers of their children. Faith and values are taught in the home from an early age and children learn these primarily by imitating the faith and values of their parents.

As they begin school, children should be receiving formal religious education. Those who send their children to Catholic school receive religious education as part of the school’s curriculum, but those attending non-Catholic schools should be receiving their religious education through their parish. Since we opened as St. Casimir Parish nearly seven years ago, we have offered religious education through our Parish School of Religion (PSR) program. This starts in pre-school and goes through Confirmation in the eighth grade.

Parents who have children who should be receiving religious education are asked to contact Father Bacevice to register their children for the coming school year. By registering now, we can plan this year’s program to meet the needs of our children.

Parents: please help us to help you provide religious education for your children by registering them for PSR classes. I look forward to hearing from you.

                                                                       God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

MONTHLY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

We invite everyone to spend some quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are able to come and commit to a specific time of prayer, we ask you to sign up on the sheet at the main entrance to the Church.
