LENT

The season of Lent begins on Wednesday, March 1st, Ash Wednesday. Ashes will be distributed at the Masses which will be celebrated at 7:30am in English and a bi-lingual Mass at 7:00pm. With this bulletin is an insert which contains the spiritual opportunities available at our Parish and in Collinwood during this season, along with the dietary regulations regarding fasting and abstaining from meat. Extra copies will be available during the entire Lenten season. We invite you to make use of the opportunities provided for your own spiritual growth.

Saturday is the Feast of St. Casimir, the Patron of our Parish and the Patron of Lithuania. It is also the day designated by the Lithuanian Bishops as a day of prayer for Lithuanians around the world. This is a day to celebrate not only who we are as members of St. Casimir’s Parish, but also to celebrate the beauty of the Lithuanian culture.

As members of this parish, we are reminded that St. Casimir, born of royalty, gave up all the earthly trappings of royalty to dedicate his life to serving others, particularly the poor. We pray that through the intercession of St. Casimir, we as a Parish will become more Christ-like, dedicating ourselves to be of service to others, particularly to the poor in our community.

It is also a time for all of us to recommit ourselves to living our Catholic Faith. The external signs of our expressions of Faith – participation at Mass, receiving the sacraments – are important as they not only offer Christian witness to our Faith but actually strengthen our commitment to grow in our Faith every day. Let us resolve to renew ourselves.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY

We ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Frank Amato and Doris Yorko who died recently and were buried from our parish. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s Kingdom.

ALL SCOUTS SUNDAY
