August 6 - 7, 2016

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, August 14th, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, and children 12 and younger - $4.  Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the parish.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As the new school year approaches, parents are reminded that their children of grade school age should be receiving formal religious training, either in a Catholic school, or in a parish PSR program. Two years of Catholic instruction is required for First Communion, and Confirmation is administered in the eighth grade. Families with children who need to enroll in our PSR program, are asked to contact the parish office as soon as possible to register.

OUR PARKING LOT

Recently we approved a bid for repairs to our Neff Road parking lot and the sidewalks in front of the Church. As we have two weddings in September, the work will either be completed before the September 10th wedding, or will begin after the September 17th wedding. During the time that the work will be going on, access to our buildings will be restricted. For one weekend and possibly two, vehicles will not be allowed to park in the lot and will have to use either the Marcella Road parking lot or will have to park in the street. Walkways into the buildings will be clearly marked. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time, and when completed the repairs should last a long time.

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

The Diocese of Cleveland’s “Protecting God’s Children” program is vigilant in its efforts to raise awareness and protect children from sexual abuse. To report any past or present suspected inappropriate behavior toward children by priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers, or personnel associated in any way with the Church, please contact local civil authorities and the Diocesan Response Services office at 216-334-2999 or via email at response_services@dioceseofcleveland.org.

 CULTURAL GARDENS

The Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation (CCGF) will have its annual “One World Day” celebration at the Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park on Sunday, August 28th from 11am to 7pm. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first garden. Also, this year, the Lithuanian Cultural Garden is celebrating its 80th Anniversary. Many of the gardens, including the Lithuanian garden, will have displays, programs and ethnic foods. All are invited to visit the gardens and enjoy this unique cultural display in Cleveland.

It seems that once August comes, we realize that summer is winding down and soon we will be beginning our Autumn - Winter - Spring activities. Our organizations have their regular activities and we have our regular parish events. Every year we have special activities when we have joint activities with others within our ethnic community - as in this summer’s Lithuanian dance festival in Baltimore, and we have our ongoing activities such as Eucharistic adoration, pancake breakfasts, and fund raisers like our annual clambake. Some activities are specific to an organization and some are for everyone in the parish.

It is amazing to me that there are so few of us - under 400 families, yet we are doing so much. There is still more that we should be doing, and I am confident that we will continue to do more. Since we opened nearly seven years ago, our goal was to attract people who are committed to building a unique parish, where everyone feels welcome and is invited to be involved in the life of the Parish.

I invite all of you to renew your commitment to St. Casimir’s Parish. I invite all of you to give of your time, your talent and your treasure to build up our parish. Finally, I invite your thoughts and ideas on what we can do to become a better Parish. If we continue to work together, we will see our Parish grow stronger and greater every day.

                                                                       God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

MONTHLY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

On Wednesday, August 10th, we will have our monthly Eucharistic Adoration in the church from 6:00-9:00pm. We invite everyone to spend some quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are able to come and commit to a specific time of prayer, we ask you to sign up on the sheet at the main entrance to the Church.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

Monday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother into Heaven. Because this feast occurs on a Monday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation.

THE FEST

This Sunday, August 7th, from 12noon until 10pm join together with thousands from across our diocese for a day of faith, family and fun. The 16th Annual Catholic Family FESTival will be held on the grounds of the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. The FEST features great Christian artists: Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, Matthew West, and Lauren Daigle, and has engaging activities and displays for the entire family. The FEST is free and open to all. The day concludes with an inspiring outdoor Mass at 8pm. It’s the highlight of summer, everything that your family needs for a great family day. For more information, go online to: www.theFEST.us
