March 27th,
we will be hosting all the parishes in Collinwood for our Lenten Cluster Mass.
After Mass, everyone is invited to our Lower Hall for food and fellowship.
We need volunteers to bake, set up, and clean up. Those willing to
help out, please sign up in the main entrance of the church or contact Ingrid
Civinskas at:
icivinsk@yahoo.com or call
440-838-0652.
ALTAR SOCIETY FLOWER SALE
Spring
will soon be upon us and it’s once again time for the Altar Society’s Annual
Flower and Vegetable Sale. This year’s sale will begin this weekend
(March 18-19) and will end Easter Sunday (April 16). Fliers and order forms
will be available beginning next weekend at the entrances to the Church. Orders
and payments can be placed in the collection basket or dropped off or mailed to
the Rectory. Support your parish and beautify your yard. It’s a win – win! All
proceeds will be given to the Parish.
GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
This
weekend, troop members from the girl scouts will
be selling cookies at the entrances to the Church. All are invited to support
their work by purchasing cookies which have been a Girl Scout tradition for 100
years (since 1917).
LITHUANIAN SCOUTS INVITE YOU
The
Cleveland Lithuanian Scouts invite everyone to their annual Saint Casimir’s Fair
(Kaziuko Muge), which takes place next Sunday, March 26th, in
the Upper Hall (gym). The Fair begins after the 10:00 Mass and concludes around
1:00pm. Various crafts, delicacies and dinner will be for sale. Please come and
support the Lithuanian Scouts who have been active in Cleveland for 67 years.
See you at the Fair!

In calling us to return to the Lord with all our heart, the gospel this weekend
speaks of the personal encounter of the Samaritan woman with Jesus. In this
encounter, Jesus reveals who he is and the impact he has on those who open their
hearts to him. This Gospel passage allows us to reflect on Jesus as the one who
satisfies our thirst for God. Just as God provided water for Israel in the
desert by having Moses strike the rock, so he sends us Jesus, the living water.
In this encounter, Jesus confronts a hardened heart, and by his loving care
and concern for her, he leads her to drink from the river of salvation. We see
her gradual transformation from a person suspicious of a stranger, to one who
brings her fellow villagers to him resulting in their recognition of Jesus as
truly the savior of the world.
During this holy season of Lent, we need to ask ourselves how can we,
following the example of the Samaritan woman, and offering witness of our faith
in Jesus, bring others to him.
God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

WELCOME
This
week we welcome the Lithuanian Boys’ Choir “Dagilelis” and its leader to
Cleveland and to our Parish. Last Friday, they performed a concert at Cleveland
State University and this weekend they are singing at our 10:00 Mass. We thank
them for their generosity to join us to sing at Mass today and hope their visit
with us was enjoyable.
LENTEN CLUSTER MASS
The
first Collinwood Parishes Lenten Cluster Mass will take place on Monday,
March 20th, at 7:00pm at St. Jerome, followed by a social in
their parish hall. All are invited to join with the members of the other
Collinwood Parishes for prayer, reflection, and social time.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Every
Friday during Lent we pray the Stations of the Cross at 7:00pm. This week the
stations will be led by the St. Casimir Lithuanian School. All are invited to participate in
this traditional Lenten Devotion.
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES
Next weekend
we will accept donations for Catholic Relief Services (CRS). These funds help
provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and demonstrate
Christ’s love and respect to all people here at home and abroad. Please be
generous. |
