Last Tuesday, at the January meeting of our Pastoral Council,
the following members were elected: Ted Egan, chairperson, Loretta
Gudenas, vice chairperson, Faye Roth, recording secretary, and Nancy
Anzlovar corresponding secretary.
The Council will be working on several projects this year
including our 10th Anniversary celebration, reviving some
parish organizations, working on new fund-raising programs and
making changes to our Mass schedule.
The Pastoral Council is one of two advisory bodies – the other
is the Finance Council – that advises me on important matters
related to parish life. I rely on their advice especially because
they represent all the members of the parish. If anyone has any
concerns that they want addressed in the parish, they can always
bring them up to a member of the Pastoral Council.
God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice |
REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
We
ask you to remember in our prayers the souls of Eleanora Gaizutis and
Helen Kastelic who died recently and were buried from our
Parish. May they be at peace forever in the blessedness
of heaven.

CATHOLIC
CHARITIES
In
a few weeks, we will begin the 2019 Catholic Charities Annual Parish Appeal.
This is a reminder to everyone who pledged in 2018 to complete your pledge
payments as soon as possible. Letters from the Bishop will be sent to most of
you in the coming weeks to invite your support of this year’s appeal. Please be
generous. |
MASS FOR
LIFE
The Diocese of Cleveland honors the Church’s teaching that every life is
cherished, chosen and sent. Each year, the Cathedral of St. John the
Evangelist celebrates the Mass for Life on January 22nd, the
anniversary date of Roe v. Wade. Members of all parishes and students from
all high schools are encouraged to join in prayer at the special liturgy on
Tuesday, January 22nd at 10:00am. Following Mass, the Rosary
for Life will be prayed. In our society, it is easy to see ways that the
dignity of human life is disregarded. God creates every person for eternal
union with himself and continually invites us to embrace the teaching that
every life is chosen.
CATHOLIC
UNIVERSITY APPEAL
The
Catholic University of America in Washington, DC is the national University
of the Catholic Church in the United States. It provides an academically
rigorous education guided by Catholic intellectual tradition to nearly 7,000
students every year.
Next
weekend, as part of the National Collection for the Catholic University,
we will be accepting donations for the University. Your support will enable
Catholic University to expand its impact in preparing the next generation of
leadership in our Church and nation. Please be generous.
WORLD DAY
FOR IMMIGRANTS,
MIGRANTS
AND REFUGEES
Our Diocese
will celebrate the World Day for Immigrants, Migrants and Refugees at Our
Lady of Peace Church on Sunday, January 20, at the 11:00 Mass. Bishop
Martin Amos will be the main celebrant. Every year this event is a very
prayerful and joyful celebration of the rich cultural diversity of our
diocesan community – we come from many lands, but in faith we are one
people. All are welcome to join this celebration at Our Lady of Peace
Church, 12601 Shaker Blvd., Cleveland, Ohio 44120.
RETROUVAILLE
Retrouvaille
is a three month program to help couples struggling in their marriages. It
has three phases, starting with a weekend experience in which couples learn
to re-establish communication and to gain new insights into themselves as
individuals and as a couple. Post sessions are held over a period of 12
weeks to further develop and enhance the techniques learned. A support group
is available offering interaction with other couples who are striving to
improve their relationship. The 2019 weekends are: January 25-27, March
22-24, and September 27-29. For more information visit:
