ALTAR SOCIETY FLOWER SALE

Spring will soon be upon us and it’s once again time for the Altar Society’s Annual Flower and Vegetable Sale. This year’s sale will began last weekend (March 18-19) and will end Easter Sunday (April 16). Fliers and order forms will be available beginning next weekend at the entrances to the Church. Orders and payments can be placed in the collection basket or dropped off or mailed to the Rectory. Support your parish and beautify your yard. It’s a win – win! All proceeds will be given to the Parish.

COOKBOOK HELP WANTED

We need some good cooks who are familiar with reading recipes to proofread some of them before we publish our revised edition of the classic “Perpetual Help in the Kitchen” cookbook. Yes, we will have it done this year. There will be some additions, including more recently submitted recipes. If interested, please call Mary Ann Pecek at 216-486-3836.

LITHUANIAN SCOUTS INVITE YOU

The Cleveland Lithuanian Scouts invite everyone to their annual Saint Casimir’s Fair (Kaziuko Muge), which takes place this Sunday, March 26th, in the Upper Hall (gym). The Fair begins after the 10:00 Mass and concludes around 1:00pm. Various crafts, delicacies and dinner will be for sale. Please come and support the Lithuanian Scouts who have been active in Cleveland for 67 years. See you at the Fair!

In calling us to return to the Lord with all our heart, the gospel this weekend speaks of the personal encounter of the man born blind with Jesus. As with the Samaritan woman last week, we too are invited to know Jesus in an intimate way, and to receive the sight to recognize him as the One sent by God.

The first reading foreshadows the Gospel. It tells how the prophet Samuel comes to “see” David, the youngest son of Jesse, as the one God has chosen to replace King Saul, rather than the eldest son, Eliab, who Samuel assumed would be God’s choice, because he was tall and strong. God chides Samuel saying: “Don’t judge by appearances.”

In the Gospel, we once again witness a person’s gradual coming into the light that is Jesus, and see how he finally recognizes him as being more than a prophet, and that he is the Son of Man who is Lord.

For those of us who are baptized, seeing requires that we go even further than just recognizing Jesus as the Light of the world. As St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians proclaims: “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord” and should lead lives of goodness, righteousness, and truth.

Ask yourself - are you a child of the light?

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

LENTEN CLUSTER MASS

THIS MONDAY, March 27, we are hosting the Collinwood Cluster Mass at 7:00pm, followed by a social in our lower hall. We invite everyone to join with members of the other Collinwood Parishes for prayer, reflection and social time.

Those bringing food to the social are asked to bring the food to the cafeteria before Mass begins. We are also looking for volunteers to help set up and clean up after the social. Those willing to help out are asked to contact Ingrid Civinskas at 440-838-0652 or icivinsk@yahoo.com

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Every Friday during Lent we pray the Stations of the Cross at 7:00pm. This week the stations will be led by the liturgical ministers. All are invited to participate in this traditional Lenten Devotion.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

This weekend we will accept donations for Catholic Relief Services (CRS). These funds help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and demonstrate Christ’s love and respect to all people here at home and abroad. Please be generous.
