August 20 - 21, 2016

THANK YOU

We thank everyone who worked to make our Pancake Breakfast last weekend a success. A total of 103 people enjoyed the best pancakes in the area. After expenses, the parish made a profit of about $580.00.

PARKING LOT

Beginning this Monday (weather permitting) work will begin on our Neff Rd. parking lot and the entrance to the Church. The entrance to the Church will be repaired first: the walkways will be taken out and new concrete will be poured in front of the church. This work will be completed by Friday, August 26. By that weekend, the main entrance of the Church will be available for pedestrian use.

Beginning Monday, August 29 the repair work will begin in the Neff Rd. parking lot. The lot will be unuseable from Monday, August 29, through Thursday, September 8. Parking will be available on the street (on Neff Rd.) and in our Marcella Road lot. The Church building will be accessed through the glass door next to the garages from the Marcella Rd. lot, or the main entrance on Neff Rd. During this time, there will be no handicapped access to the Church building.

We thank everyone for their support in making this project happen and for your patience during this time.

WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers weekends to bring a husband and wife closer together. Get away from the distractions of everyday life and focus on each other and how to improve your marriage. The next weekends are Oct 8-9, at the St. Paschal Baylon Parish, Highland Heights; and Nov. 11-13, and Feb. 17-19, 2017 at the Clarion Inn & Conference Center, Hudson. Information on these weekends can be found at: www.wwme.org or call 330-305-9963.

 CULTURAL GARDENS

The Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation (CCGF) will have its annual “One World Day” celebration at the Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park on Sunday, August 28th from 11am to 7pm. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first garden. Also, this year, the Lithuanian Cultural Garden is celebrating its 80th Anniversary. Many of the gardens, including the Lithuanian garden, will have displays, programs and ethnic foods. All are invited to visit the gardens and enjoy this unique cultural display in Cleveland.

On Sunday, October 9, 2016, Lithuanians from all over the United States and Canada will gather to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Lithuanian Chapel - dedicated to Our Lady of Siluva at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm in the Basilica Church followed by a reception at the Catholic University of America. The Mass is open to everyone, there is no charge to participate at Mass and all seating is open. The Basilica can seat 2,500 people. The reception is a “ticketed event” and tickets will be available for purchase. For more information, visit their website: www.siluva50usa.org.

I bring this to everyone’s attention because many from our parish will be attending this Mass. The Cleveland Exultate choir will join other Lithuanian choirs in singing at the Mass. Special Holy Cards with Mass information are available on the tables by the entrances to the Church.

As our Lithuanian Community prepares to celebrate this special day, all of us are reminded to pray that through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, all peoples will one day live in peace and in freedom.

                                                                 God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

We welcome into the Christian Community and our Parish James Mark Heben, son of Michael and Laura (nee Bellini) Heben. James was baptized here last Sunday.

FAITH AND VALUES

As summer vacations come to a close, we look forward to the beginning of another school year in our Catholic Schools across the diocese. We will accept donations to the “The Faith and Values Appeal for Education” next weekend to provide tuition support for needy students and their families right here in our own diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students.
