PANCAKE BREAKFAST

All are invited to our Pancake Breakfast in our lower hall after all the Masses this Sunday. Tickets at the door are $7 for adults (age 14 and up) and $4 for children (age 5-13). All proceeds will be given to the Parish.

WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers weekends to bring a husband and wife closer together. Get away from the distractions of everyday life and focus on each other and how to improve your marriage. The next weekends are Oct 8-9, at the St. Paschal Baylon Parish, Highland Heights; and Nov. 11-13, and Feb. 17-19, 2017 at the Clarion Inn & Conference Center, Hudson. Information on these weekends can be found at: www.wwme.org or call 330-305-9963.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As the new school year approaches, parents are reminded that their children of grade school age should be receiving formal religious training, either in a Catholic school, or in a parish PSR program. Two years of Catholic instruction is required for First Communion, and Confirmation is administered in the eighth grade. Families with children who need to enroll in our PSR program, are asked to contact the parish office as soon as possible to register.

RETROUVAILLE

Retrouvaille is a three-month program to help couples struggling in their marriages. It has three phases, starting with a weekend experience in which couples learn to re-establish communication and to gain new insights into themselves as individuals and as a couple. Post sessions are held over a period of 12 weeks to further develop and enhance the techniques learned on the weekend. A support group is available offering interaction with other couples who are striving to improve their relationship. The next weekend is scheduled for September 9-11 at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Beachwood, Ohio. Contact Diane and Al Miskinis with questions at 3031@retrouvaille.org or phone 330-665-3506. For more information go to www.retrouvaille.org

 CULTURAL GARDENS

The Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation (CCGF) will have its annual “One World Day” celebration at the Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park on Sunday, August 28th from 11am to 7pm. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the first garden. Also, this year, the Lithuanian Cultural Garden is celebrating its 80th Anniversary. Many of the gardens, including the Lithuanian garden, will have displays, programs and ethnic foods. All are invited to visit the gardens and enjoy this unique cultural display in Cleveland.

     I recently received this letter:

Dear Father Bacevice and St. Casimir (Neff Rd.) parishioners,

I am writing to congratulate you and the parishioners of St. Casimir (Neff Rd) for reaching your 2016 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal goal. The love of Jesus powers our mission at Catholic Charities – a mission of which you are an important part.

What is the Catholic Charities difference? Every person who walks through the doors, no matter their background, is treated with respect and dignity. That is the difference you have made possible with your financial support.

The Catholic Charities Annual Appeal is also a reminder to us that no one can be discarded or ignored when love is our mission. It gives us the ability to provide food for those in unforseeable circumstances; to walk with families that are overcome with addiction; to provide homes and care for persons of disabilities; to set attainable goals and paths toward self sufficiency and meaningful employment. Our mission drives us to support the dignity of all human life in all circumstances; your support continues to give us the ability to fulfill it.

Thanks to you, lives are being changed all throughout Northeast Ohio.

May God bless you for all you do in his Name.

                                                                 Fraternally yours,

                                                                 + Richard Lennon

                                                                 Bishop of Cleveland

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

Monday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother into Heaven. Because this feast occurs on a Monday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation.

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS:

We ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Helen Kudzus and William Tozzi who died recently. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s Kingdom.

FAITH AND VALUES

As summer vacations come to a close, we look forward to the beginning of another school year in our Catholic Schools across the diocese. We will accept donations to the “The Faith and Values Appeal for Education” next weekend to provide tuition support for needy students and their families right here in our own diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students.
