COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCHES
IN EASTERN EUROPE
Next weekend
we will be accepting offerings for our annual collection to support the
Churches in Eastern Europe. The Lithuanian Church receives funds from this
collection, and the Lithuanian Bishops have written us to ask you to be
generous.
THANK YOU
Last Monday, our Parish
hosted the Collinwood Cluster Mass. This was the best attended Cluster Mass
that I have seen since my first Lent here at St. Casimir’s in 2010. Thank
you to Ingrid Civinskas and all the volunteers who worked with her to
organize and host the social after Mass. When I first came here, I was told
that this parish was known for their hosting and preparing this event. Again
this year, you made sure we did keep up our tradition of our excellence. The
comments I heard from our guests was all very positive. I also want to thank
our Lithuanian and English singers for the beautiful music at the Mass. This
was truly a beautiful and meaningful celebration.
ST. CASIMIR BREAKFAST
Because of scheduling
conflicts, we have had to cancel our St. Casimir Feast
breakfast. Many of our parishioners will be in Toronto on March 4th
for Canada’s celebration of the 100th Lithuanian Independence
Day. During the past few weeks that we had tickets for sale, none were
purchased. Our next pancake breakfast will take place this fall.
RIGHT TO LIFE
The “Pain Capable Unborn
Child Protection Act” - also known as Micah’s Law in honor of a baby who
survived birth at 22 weeks - bans abortion after 20 weeks. Sixteen states
have already enacted similar legislation. During the debate that which led
to House passage of the bill on October 3, Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin
argued, “when you look at these little babies being dismembered, feeling
excruciating pain, if we can’t stand to defend these children, what do we
stand for in this institution?” (LifeNews.com. 10/15/17) For those who want
to participate more fully in the pro-life movement, see the bulletin insert
