September 20-21, 2014

On the cover of our weekly bulletin, we welcome new people to our Parish and invite them to register. I’m often asked: Why register? There are many reasons. For the Parish, it gives us a better picture of our Parish. We are required to report statistics to the diocese which are used to determine the size of our diocese. These numbers are sent to Rome each year so there can be an accurate count of the number of Catholics in the world. The information we obtain from registrations helps us plan programs and events that will meet the needs of our people. Simply knowing the age of our members can help us design programs of religious education for our young people, assess the need for communion ministers to the homebound, and make plans for our future. We can also keep accurate records regarding contributions to the parish. For registered members, there is a sense of belonging to a faith community, the ability to fully participate in the life of the parish, determining jurisdiction for the sacrament of matrimony, and having a say in what happens in our Parish.

As we continue to see new people come to our parish, we invite them to register. For those who have been coming here for a long time, we invite you to make the commitment of joining our parish community. I also want you to know that we do not share any personal information with any other organization including the Diocese.

Registration forms are conveniently located in the Book Room off the main entrance to the church, they can be picked up at the Rectory during business hours (Mon-Fri 10:00 am to 6:00 pm), or just give us a call, and we’ll be happy to mail one out.

American Express used to advertise that "Membership has its privileges". The same is true of St. Casimir Parish.

                                             God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY

Please remember in your prayers the souls of Carl Weindel and Felicia Karvelis who recently died and were buried through our parish. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

ALTAR FLOWERS

We thank Mrs. A. Staskus for her donation toward altar flowers this week. They are in loving memory of her husband, Vytautas Staskus.

PARISH DIRECTORIES

Parish Directories - for those who participated in the program - can be picked up at the main entrance to the Church after the weekend English Masses, in the Lower Hall after the 10:00 Mass or at the Rectory during regular business hours (Mon-Fri 10-6).

PASTORAL COUNCIL

We are looking for a few good people to run for a seat on our Pastoral Council. Application forms are available in the Book Room. Applications will be accepted until October 27th. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, is eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider serving on this important council in our Parish.

CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS COLLECTION

Next weekend our parish will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign (CCC). This Collection communicates the Good News through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese, so please be generous in this Collection. CCC is how the Good news gets around to you.

ALTAR SOCIETY

The mission of our Altar Society is to provide suitable decorations for the Church and to maintain the items used in our liturgical celebrations. They invite the participation of all in the parish by providing flowers for the sanctuary and our shrines. Envelopes are available with the weekly bulletins for this purpose. Those who donate to this fund will be acknowledged in our bulletin.

BARBECUE AND BOUTIQUE

The Sisters of Notre Dame invite you to attend their 52nd Annual Barbecue and Boutique to be held on Sunday, September 21 and Sunday, September 28, from noon until 5:00pm. Enjoy barbecued chicken or ribs, chips, apple pie, coleslaw and beverages. Select Sisters’ handmade items in the Boutique. Tickets are available at the door: $12/chicken, $15/ribs. Held at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Rd., Chardon, Ohio, south of Mayfield Rd. (Rt. 322) at the Notre Dame Cathedral Latin Campus. Take out dinners are also available.

CLAMBAKE FUND-RAISER NOTES
Have you purchased your Fall Raffle tickets?

Raffle tickets were mailed to those who did not pick them up last week. Additional tickets are available at the rectory during the week or in the Book Room by the main entrance of the Church.

Dinner tickets are now available

Tickets for the Clambake and Steak Roast dinners, and extra Clam tickets are now available. They will be sold after the weekend Masses at the back of the Church and in the lower hall, and also during the week at the rectory. Clambake and Steak Roast dinner tickets are $29.95 each and extra clams are $10. The last day to purchase tickets is Sunday, October 19th.

Helpers are needed

For our clambake to be a success, we need volunteers to help with just about every aspect of the event. We have several different sign up sheets in the Book room. If you can help us by baking a dessert, decorating or setting up the hall, helping with cleanup, or driving guests to their cars at Jakubs, please sign up in the book room.

Show your support for our parish in the program book

We invite you to have your greetings printed in the book or purchase advertising in the book. And advertising form is included in with this week’s bulletin. Additional copies are in the Book Room and in the Rectory.

Our clambake this year falls on the 5th Anniversary of our First Mass as St. Casimir Parish. We want everyone to a part of this celebration and look forward to seeing you there.
