April 23 - 24, 2016

              PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE

OF YOUR FELLOW PARISHIONERS

On Sunday we have three Masses here at 8:00, 10:00 and 12:00. We once again remind those who are spending time after the 10:00 Mass and will still be here at 11:45, to please park in the Marcella Road parking lot so those arriving for 12:00 Mass have a place to park.

Also, we remind everyone who uses our parking lots to not block the entrances to the parking lots, or buildings, and not to park on the sidewalks. Beginning this weekend, those who do, will be ticketed and towed

QUIET DAY OF PRAYER

Join us for a Quiet Day of Prayer at Bethany Retreat Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon on Thursday, May 5 from 9:30-2:30. The day begins and ends with prayer and in between, you are free to create your own time of prayer and reflection. $10 donation includes lunch. Please contact Sr. Jennifer Kramer, SND, by Monday, May 2nd to register: jkramer@ndec.org or 440-279-1143.

 HOLY NAME SOCIETY

Our Holy Name Society appreciates your support. They sell raffle tickets after all the weekend Masses for our Split Raffle, which is held during our meeting on the last Wednesday of each month. The profit from each raffle is added to their treasury and used for parish needs. Consider using the May Holy Name envelope provided to become an active or supporting member of the Holy Name Society.

CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS

Post 613 of the Catholic War Veterans is having its annual Poppy Distribution the weekend of May 21-22, before and after all Masses. The red poppy is a symbol of the blood shed by our military and a reminder of the sacrifice they made for us. Proceeds from the donations received support the Post’s work with disabled and hospitalized veterans.

 PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, May 22nd, after all the Masses, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Adults - $7 and children 12 and younger - $4. Save $1 by purchasing your ticket early. Tickets are available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass, and at the Rectory during the week. All proceeds benefit the Parish.

MEMORIAL DAY

Monday, May 30th is Memorial Day. Again this year, our Catholic War Veterans Post 613 will have their annual Memorial Day commemoration here at St. Casimir, beginning at 8:30am with a service at the Freedom Memorial in our Neff Road parking lot, followed by Mass at 9:00. The commemoration will conclude with breakfast in our lower hall. All are invited.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

The 2016 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal has been underway since February. So far, 104 members of our parish have pledged $10,762 toward our parish goal of $10,842. That is 99.26% of our goal! Your support of the 2016 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal is an act of mercy that will change the lives of over 400,000 of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Please consider a generous gift to the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal and pray for its success. Catholic Charities provides essential programs and services to those in need throughout the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland.

I’m happy to say that spring is finally here. Although our winter was not really cold or snowy, it is refreshing to see the days getting longer and warmer, spring flowers blooming, and leaves are beginning to sprout on the trees. Looking at the calendar also tells me that many activities are winding down. Next weekend, we will have First Communion and our PSR program will end for the summer. Soon the Lithuanian School will have its final day and our Lithuanian Scouts will take a summer recess.

As these activities wind down, we are preparing for our summer activities. This summer will be another summer of renovations. The school is planning classroom renovations as they expand to open 4th Grade classes. We are sending out specifications to contractors for repairs to our Neff Road parking lot. At the same time, we are planning some building repairs and improvements to the lighting in the Church.

For more than a year we have been asking for and saving money for our parking lot repairs along with repairs to the church and rectory entrances. Repair and replacement of the stone work on these entrances will cost $81,600, bringing the cost of the project up to $126,600.We now have to look at alternatives to the repairs to the entrances to bring the cost down substantially.

Two weeks ago in the bulletin, I appealed for your generosity in raising the money needed for this work. Our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who comes here, whether for Masses, to visit the office, or come to the school.

We have a great responsibility to protect and maintain what was entrusted to us, so that we in turn can leave it to those who come after us. If we all do our part, we will have a beautiful and safe environment to worship, conduct church business, and to celebrate who we are as a parish community..

                                                                  God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

We ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Juozas Ardys who died recently and was buried from our Parish. May he have eternal rest in the Peace of God’s Kingdom.

MASSES

We still have several Mass openings for this year, both on weekdays (beginning in May) and on weekends (beginning in July). For those who would like to schedule Masses for 2016, please contact our office. The usual offering for Mass is $10.

WE INVITE YOUR PARTICIPATION
IN LIGHTING UP THE CHURCH

On several occasions, it has been brought to our attention that our Church is poorly lit. This is not something new, as it has been a problem since the Church was built. However, today’s new lighting technology can remedy this situation.

Father Bacevice and the Pastoral Council would like to form a committee of interested parishioners to look at various options, decide on what is best for our Church building, raise the necessary funds, and arrange to have the new lighting installed. Those interested are asked to contact either Fr. Bacevice or Ted Kowalski.
