STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Every Friday at 7:00pm during Lent, we pray the Stations of the Cross. This week they will be led by the Holy Name Society. All are encouraged to participate in this traditional Lenten devotion.

CLUSTER PENANCE SERVICE

Next Monday, March 19th, at 7:00pm, the Collinwood Cluster of Parishes is having their annual Lenten Penance Service here at St. Casimir’s. At least five priests will be hearing confessions. We encourage you to take this opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the celebration of Easter.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES

This weekend we will accept donations for Catholic Relief Services (CRS). These funds help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and Christ’s love and respect to all people here at home and abroad. Please be generous.

LITHUANIAN SCOUTS INVITE YOU

The Cleveland Lithuanian Scouts cordially invite everyone to attend their annual St. Casimir Fair, which takes place next Sunday, March 18, in our upper hall (gym). The fair begins after the 10:00 Mass and runs until 1:00pm. Handmade crafts, delicacies, and dinner will be for sale. Please come and support our scouts who have been active in Cleveland for 68 years. See you at the Fair!

Nothing can contain the love God has for humanity. We see this in today’s Scripture readings. From the time of the restoration of Jerusalem to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross his love for us is evident.

In the Second Book of Chronicles, God repeatedly showed compassion for the Chosen People but Judah rejected all attempts at reconciliation. Jerusalem eventually fell to foreign powers, but seventy years after the destruction of the temple, Cyrus, another foreign ruler, directed that it be rebuilt. In the eyes of the faithful, God had relented and forgiven them. God’s graciousness had won out over punishment.

In the Gospel, St. John writes that God’s “love for the world” is so strong, that His own Son was given to us so that all would have the opportunity for eternal life. Recently Pope Francis called this passage the summary of the whole Gospel. St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians glories in this generosity, and in fact, is written as if the ultimate gift has already been given, saying God raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus.

As you experience God’s love, ask yourself how you can extend that love to others.

God Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

TIME CHANGE

Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 11th, at 2:00am. Remember to set your clocks AHEAD one hour before going to bed this Saturday. If you are late for Sunday Mass, now you know why…

CLUSTER MASS

The next Collinwood Cluster Mass will be on Monday, February 26, at 7:00pm at Holy Redeemer parish (15712 Kipling Ave.) Following Mass all are invited to their Parish Hall for food and fellowship.
