HELP NEEDED FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

We will take up a second collection at Masses this weekend to support the humanitarian efforts of the Catholic Dioceses affected by the recent flooding in Louisiana. Write your checks to St. Casimir Parish and mark them for the Louisiana Flood Collection. Be generous.

THANK YOU FROM CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Catholic Charities is pleased to announce that as of August 31, they raised $11,627,825 and exceeded the goal of $11.5 million. Our parish goal was $10,842. This year 142 donors from our parish pledged $14,764, which is 136% of our goal. Because of your generosity, Catholic Charities will be able to continue serve the 400,000 + people who come to them each year.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

We are looking for a few good people to run for a seat on our Pastoral Council. This year we will elect four members to the Council.  Application forms are available in the Book Room. Applications will be accepted until October 30th. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, is eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider serving on this important council in our Parish.

CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN

Next week we will accept donations for the Catholic Communications Campaign. Your offerings help communicate the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese and support local needs. Please be generous.

PROGRAM BOOK

Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed for as little as $5. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket envelope and additional forms are available at the back of the church. Everyone is invited to participate.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Birthright is a pregnancy service that helps pregnant women and new mothers. They are currently seeking volunteers for their Eastside office to answer the phones, make up infant layettes and help women find community resources. No experience is necessary and training is provided. If you would like to help us help the women and babies in our community, please call Toni Sabo at 216-228-5998 or 216-486-2800 for more information.

2) Learn to speak, read and write Lithuanian. Weekly classes, beginner and intermediate levels, your choice of 30-minute (conversational only) or 75-minute classes.
For details, contact Vida Bucmys at 216-481-0653.

On the cover of our weekly bulletin, we welcome new people to our Parish and invite them to register. I’m often asked: Why register? There are many reasons. For the Parish, it gives us a better picture of our Parish. We are required to report statistics to the diocese which are used to determine the size of our diocese. These numbers are sent to Rome each year to there can be an accurate count of the number of Catholics in the world. The information we obtain from registrations helps us plan programs and events that will meet the needs of our people. Simply knowing the age of our members can help us design programs of religious education for our young people, assess the need for communion ministers to the homebound, and make plans for our future. We can also keep accurate records regarding contributions to the parish. For registered members, there is a sense of belonging to a faith community, the ability to fully participate in the life of the parish, determining jurisdiction for the sacrament of matrimony, and having a say in what happens in our Parish.

As we continue to see new people come to our parish, we invite them to register. For those who have been coming here for a long time, we invite you to make the commitment of joining our parish community. I also want you to know that we do not share any personal information with any other organization including the Diocese.

Registration forms are conveniently located in the Book Room off the main entrance to the church, they can be picked up at the Rectory during business hours (Mon-Fri 10:00 am to 6:00 pm), or just give us a call, and we’ll be happy to mail one out.

American Express used to advertise that “Membership has its privileges.” The same is true of St. Casimir Parish.

                                                              God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY

We ask you to remember in your prayers a.a. Matilda Racecic who have died and was buried from our Parish: . May she have eternal rest in the peace of God’s Kingdom.

FALL FUND RAISER

Our Sixth Annual Clambake/Steak Roast/Autumn Raffle will take place on Saturday, October 22nd, beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church. All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets, as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone. Dinner tickets will be available after Labor Day. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles and sideboards. We invite everyone to participate in the fund raiser to support our parish.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with this project. Set up, clean up, bakers, and other volunteer positions need to be filled. Please sign up in the Book Room to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on October 22nd.
