ALL SOULS DAY
Wednesday, November 2nd
is the Feast of All Souls, the day we remember our dead. The three
traditional All Souls Day Mass will be offered at 7:30 am (English), 12:00 noon
(English) and 7:00 pm (Lithuanian). Following the evening Mass we will have the
traditional Lithuanian All Souls procession and prayers for the dead. We invite
families who have lost a loved one since last November 2nd, to
participate in the commemoration. An All Souls day envelope is included with the
offering envelopes with space to include the names of the dead you want
remembered in the Masses.
We also have a special All
Souls Day candles available at the Rectory which can be inscribed with the
name of the deceased you want remembered. These candles will burn for 5 days
beginning on November 2nd. For your convenience candle order
envelopes can be found on the bulletin tables. The donation for the All Souls
Day candle is $5. All are invited to remember their loved ones with an All Souls
Day candle.
PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY
Catholics across the country
will celebrate Priesthood Sunday on October 30. It is a day set aside to
celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It
is also a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us
- when we gather together at the Table of the Lord, and when we call on them in
our times of need – and to consider sharing a personal note or a card of thanks
with them. Together we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by
the ministry and witness of our priests. We also pray that their hearts be open
to hearing and responding to God’s call in their lives. More information on
priesthood can be found at
www.clevelandcatholicpriesthood.com.

For the past several weeks I have placed an announcement in the bulletin
asking for volunteers to run for a seat on our Parish Pastoral Council. As of
today, we have not received any applications.
Our Pastoral Council is the most important advisory group I have in the
parish. The Pastoral Council advises me on all aspects of parish life, from
making up Mass schedules to setting priorities for property repairs and
improvements. Every year we elect four members and I appoint one member for a
two year term. Two members of the Council must be from the Lithuanian community
and two members must be from the non-Lithuanian community. They can be
re-elected one time before they are ineligible for one year.
This year, two members are ineligible to run for another term. I am sure
that there are at least two members of our parish who would be able to serve on
the council. The application process is easy and application forms are available
in the Book Room. We would like all applications to be submitted by Sunday,
October 30th.
It is easy to sit back and watch, or to complain and criticize. It takes
effort and commitment to become involved in the life of the parish. Being able
to make a difference and being involved in Parish Life is a rewarding experience
and worth the effort that goes into it. I invite and encourage you to fill out
an application.
God
Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY
Remember
in your prayers the soul of
Franki Anne Pinzarroni who died recently and was buried from
our parish. May she have eternal rest in the peace of God’s Kingdom.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
On
Wednesday, October
12th we will have our monthly Eucharistic Adoration from 6-9pm. We
invite you to spend some quiet time in prayer on either or both of these days.
If you are able to commit to a specific time, please sign up in the Book Room.
BLANKET SUNDAY COLLECTION
Next weekend, October 8-9,
we will accept offerings for the Annual Blanket Sunday Appeal. This
annual appeal by the St. Vincent de Paul Society collects cash donations to
purchase blankets for the poor in our area. Special envelopes are available at
on the bulletin racks at the church entrances. Or, place you donation in an
envelope marked “Blanket Sunday” (checks should be made out to St. Casimir).
Please be generous and help provide warm blankets
for the poor in our own community.
PRAYING THE ROSARY
During
the month of October, we will pray the Rosary on weekday mornings before the
7:30 Mass at 7am. We invite everyone to join in this devotion. If there is
sufficient interest, this will continue beyond October.
PASTORAL COUNCIL
We
are looking for a few good people to run for a seat on our Pastoral Council.
This year we will elect four members to the Council. Application forms are
available in the Book Room. Applications will be accepted until October 30th.
Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, is eligible
to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider
serving on this important council in our Parish.
