June 6 - 7, 2015

As the month of June begins, we know that summer is near. This year, there are a lot of Summer activities that many of our parishioners will participate in. Next weekend, we will remember the deportations of the Baltic people with a special service at 2:00pm. Prior to that, the Cultural Gardens committee will have their fund raising picnic at 12:00 noon. The following weekend, many from here will travel to Camp Dainava for Fr. Laniauskas’ First Mass. Two weeks later - Independence weekend - many from here will be in Chicago for the Lithuanian Song Festival.

During the summer months, here at St. Casimir’s, we will also be busy. We are looking to either repair or replace our Neff Road parking lot, and hopefully make repairs to entrances to the Church and Rectory. These projects will be expensive, and I have been able to save only $40,000 to pay for them. So the Parish has to rely on everyone’s generosity to help us see these projects to completion.

So I ask everyone - when you are away from your Parish on a weekend, PLEASE make up for your missed offerings when you return. Also, I ask that those who are able to make a generous contribution to our repair fund. The sooner we raise the money needed for the projects, the quicker we can get them completed.

Our goal in all our repair projects is to maintain our buildings and property so that we can provide a safe and inspiring place to worship, to conduct parish business, and to provide space for the spiritual and cultural needs of all our members.

Together, we can make this happen.

                                                               God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Friday, June 5th is the First Friday of the month. We will have our Holy Hour from 8:00-9:00am. Also, Wednesday, June 10th, we will have Eucharistic Adoration from 6:00-9:00pm. We are asking individuals to commit to specific times to be in the Church for adoration. If you would like to make such a commitment, please sign up in the Book Room. All are invited to spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament each month during the year.

SUMMER PILGRIMAGES

During this Year of Consecrated Life we are invited to connect with religious congregations and to respond to the words of Pope Francis: “Wake up the World! Be witnesses of a different way of doing things, of acting, of living! It is possible to live differently in this world.” To help make this happen, the Diocese has coordinated a diocesan-wide pilgrimage to congregational homes and ministry centers of 23 religious communities from June to September. Everyone is invited to discover the heart of consecrated life and to discover the beauty of our journey to God, who is the beginning and the end of life’s pilgrimage.

Posters are in the Book Room and the side entrance to the Church, and on the bulletin board in the lower hall with more information. Brochures are also available near the Church Bulletin racks. Together on this journey to God, let us pray for each other as we live and witness our faith in Jesus Christ.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS

Summer office hours are as follows: Monday – Thursday 10:00-6:00; the office is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please follow these times for all non-emergency matters.

NEWS FROM THE HOLY NAME SOCIETY

The Holy Name Society at St. Casimir has donated $100 to the Lithuanian Youth Camp Dainava in Manchester, Michigan, in honor of the ordination of Deacon Lukas Laniauskas, one of our own parishioners, to the order of Presbyter for service to the Society of Jesus. We congratulate Father Laniauskas and eagerly await his first visit home to celebrate Mass here at St. Casimir’s.

ALTAR FLOWERS

In remembering their father, Henrikas Stasas, and the 5 year anniversary of his passing, his daughters have donated the flowers decorating the back altar. Thank you.

THE FEST

Join us for The FEST on Sunday, August 9th on the Borromeo seminary grounds in Wickliffe when the 56 acre campus becomes the home of our 15th Annual Catholic Family Festival. It is a day that celebrates faith and family. It’s fun and it’s free. Join thousands from across the region for national Christian bands and great faith-based activities and displays for the whole family. The day ends with an outdoor Mass at 8:00pm and an incredible American Fireworks display. Look online: www.theFEST.us

On Sunday, June 14, 2015, we will commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the Occupation of the Baltic States by the Soviet Union and remember the victims of the mass deportations of June 13-14, 1941. The Commemoration will be an Ecumenical Prayer Service at 2:00pm here at St. Casimir’s. All are invited to join with the Estonians and Latvians for this special day. Refreshments will be served afterward in the cafeteria. This event is sponsored by the Baltic American Committee of Cleveland.
