Next weekend we will be participating in the follow-up In-Pew Parish Appeal for Catholic Charities and Rose-Mary. The money raised for the Appeal is an act of mercy that will change the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially the children and young adults with disabilities living at Rose-Mary.

All new, increased and additional gifts made in the in-pew envelopes (available next weekend) or donated online (www.CatholicCommunity.org/challenge) will be matched up to $100,000, and all proceeds from this weekend will be invested in Rose-Mary’s Homes for Our Future Project to enhance the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Please be generous!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As the activity year winds down, many start thinking about summer activities. This is the time of year I start thinking about next year, particularly regarding religious education. It is the parish’s responsibility to see that the children are receiving religious education and are participating in the life of the Church. For our younger children, preparation is needed for their First Communion. Diocesan policy requires two years of religious education prior to receiving First Communion. For those approaching their teen years, preparation is needed to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. For those in Catholic School, there is a seven week program and for those not in Catholic School, an additional two years of religious education is needed.

Families who have children who will be receiving their First Communion or Confirmation are asked to contact Fr. Bacevice to register for classes.

FLOWERS FOR OUR BLESSED MOTHER

May is the month of Mary when traditionally we make an extra effort to honor Mary with our prayers as well as gifts of flowers. We invite you to bring flowers (cut flowers in your vase or potted plants) and place them on Mary’s altar. Altar Society members will help maintain them and make sure your vase (please mark it with your name) is kept for your return. Honor Mary in May with prayer, flowers, and by lighting a candle.

HOLY NAME SOCIETY

Our Parish’s Holy Name Society appreciates your support. Each year, we sponsor The Giving Tree for parishioners in need of a little help during the Christmas holidays. Four times each year, we help with the Parish Pancake Breakfast. Every summer, we organize and pay for an annual picnic for all parishioners. In addition, we helped initiate and continue to support the evening Eucharistic Adoration on the second Wednesday of the month.

Consider becoming an active or supporting member by joining the Holy Name Society. You can use the envelope in the May offering envelope pack. Dues are just $5/year, and we meet the last Wednesday of the month at Hope House. Please join us!
