HOLY NAME SOCIETY INVITES EVERYONE

Our Holy Name Society is pleased to invite the entire parish to attend the Holy Name Picnic and Cookout on Wednesday, July 26th, from 5-8pm in the back yard of the convent building. Hot dogs, burgers, snacks and soft drinks will be served. Last year, we had live entertainment which might be repeated this year. There is no cost for the picnic as the Holy Name Society underwrites the entire cost. In case of rain, the food will be served in the lower hall. This is a good way to meet fellow parishioners and learn about the Holy Name Society.

CROSS FOR THE HILL OF CROSSES

The Lithuanian Roman Catholic Priests’ League will bless and place a cross on the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania on July 7, 2017, in honor of the Centennial of the Lithuanian Declaration of Independence. As one of 16 Lithuanian Parishes in the United States, we are sharing in cost of this project. We are accepting donations this week and next for this projects. Place your donation in an envelope marked “Hill of Crosses” and drop it in the collection basket this week or next. A replica of this cross will be at our parish sometime this summer. Thank you for your support.

FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM

The Fortnight for Freedom, a call to 14 days of prayer, education and action for religious freedom in the United States and abroad, will again take place this year from June 21 to July 4. During this two-week period our liturgical calendar celebrates great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops encourages Catholics across our country to enter into a period with a strong focus on prayer, education, and reflection on our first freedom, freedom of religion. Beginning June 21st and ending July 4th, we will offer daily prayers and reflections on this important freedom.

The FEST

Are you looking for an opportunity for your family to grow in faith this summer? Join us for a family retreat day on Sunday, August 6th, at the 17th Annual FEST, beginning at noon at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. Outdoor Mass, Adoration, praise and worship and more will inspire you to experience the FULL LIFE that only Christ can give. Check out www.TheFEST.us today.

Tuesday is the Fourth of July, American Independence Day. As we prepare to celebrate this holiday, we are reminded that our most precious gift as citizens is our freedom, and we need to remember that this freedom has come at a tremendous price.

All of us need to take time during this holiday to thank God for the gift of our freedom and pray for those who lost their lives that we can live in freedom. We are also reminded that we need to continue to be vigilant to protect our freedom. Technology exists to monitor just about every aspect of our lives and political expediency threatens our religious freedom. If we ignore these signs in our society, we will see our freedom eroded and possibly lost.

Let us pray and use our influence to assure that the freedoms we have will never be compromised.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bronė Paulionis who died recently and was buried from our parish.  May she have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

On Friday, July 7th, we will have our First Friday Eucharistic Holy Hour from 8-9am. On Wednesday, July 12th, we will have Eucharistic Adoration in the Church from 6-9pm. All are invited to stop in and spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. To make a commitment to spend time in prayer, please sign up in the Book Room.

ACCESS TO THE LOWER HALL

From Saturday, July 1st through Monday, August 7th, access to our lower hall will be ONLY from the Marcella Road entrance. Construction going on in the old cloak room, Youth Room, and old shower room will close off that area of the school building. This will primarily affect those who go to Sunday Coffee after the 10:00 Mass. This is being done for the safety of everyone who goes into the building.
