2014 2018

March 2 - 3, 2018 m.

Monday is the Feast of St. Casimir, the Patron of our Parish and the Patron of Lithuania. This is a day to celebrate not only who we are as members of St. Casimir’s Parish, but also to celebrate the beauty of the Lithuanian culture.

As members of this parish, we are reminded that St. Casimir, born of royalty, gave up all the earthly trappings of royalty to dedicate his life to serving others, particularly the poor. We pray that through the intercession of St. Casimir, we as a Parish will become more Christ-like, dedicating ourselves to be of service to others, particularly to the poor in our community.

It is also a time for all of us to recommit ourselves to living our Catholic Faith. The external signs of our expressions of Faith – participation at Mass, receiving the sacraments – are important as they not only offer Christian witness to our Faith but actually strengthen our commitment to grow in our Faith every day.

                      God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

We ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Joseph Rieder who died recently and was buried from out parish. May he have eternal rest in the peace of God’ kingdom.

THIS SUNDAY we invite everyone to our lower hall for the best pancake breakfast in the area. Breakfast will be served from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets at the door cost $7, and children under 10 are free. All proceeds benefit the parish.

The season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Ashes will be distributed at Masses celebrated at 7:30am (EN) and 7:00pm (bilingual). At the entrances to the Church and during the entire Lenten season you will find a brochure which contains the spiritual opportunities available at our Parish and in Collinwood during this season, along with the dietary regulations regarding fasting and abstaining from meat. We invite you to make use of the opportunities provided for your own spiritual growth.

We will pray the Stations of the Cross each Friday at 7:00pm. This Friday, the stations will be led by the Pastoral Council. All are invited to participate in this traditional Lenten devotion. Bi-lingual Stations of the Cross prayer pamphlets are available so all can participate.

On Monday, March 18th, we will be hosting all the parishes in Collinwood for our Lenten Cluster Mass. After Mass, everyone is invited to our Upper Hall (gym) for food and fellowship. We need volunteers to bake, set up and clean up. Those willing to help out are asked to sign up at the main entrance to the church or contact Ingrid Civinskas at: or call 440-838-0652.

The annual collection to support the Black and Indian Missions takes place next weekend. This is the oldest designated collection in the United States. We ask everyone to be generous in supporting this important work of the Catholic Church.

Last weekend, we published a survey with our bulletin regarding our weekend Mass schedule. So far we have heard from 32 people. Additional surveys are available on the table at the main entrance to the Church. Return them in the collection basket or drop them off at the Rectory. Please return them by March 17th.

The Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference writes to all Lithuanian parishes around the world: “This is the sixth year that we gather together to pray for Lithuanians and those of Lithuanian descent. 2019 is being celebrated as the Year of Lithuanians Around the World. On the first Sunday of March we pray for all establishing and active Lithuanian communities, wherever they may be – in the farthest corners of the planet or those in our homeland... As we pray for Lithuanian communities around the world, we thank God for those who stayed in the homeland, for those who were able to leave and for all who helped Lithuanians establish a new life far from their own country... (Today) let us extend a hand to help others, especially those of Lithuanian heritage, who might have left their homes and have been ensnared by human trafficking and present-day slavery. Let us never lose courage or strength to help those who struggle. Let us unite our forces to eradicate the evil of human trafficking by reporting anything that relates to the inhuman treatment of men, women and children. This year, on March 3rd, we unite to pray for Lithuanians around the world. The Lithuanian Bishops Conference Delegate, Msgr. Edmond J. Putrimas will be in Copenhagen to pray with members of the Lithuanian communities living in Denmark.”
