March 2 - 3, 2018 m.

Monday is the Feast of St. Casimir, the Patron of our Parish and the Patron of Lithuania. This is a day to celebrate not only who we are as members of St. Casimir’s Parish, but also to celebrate the beauty of the Lithuanian culture.

As members of this parish, we are reminded that St. Casimir, born of royalty, gave up all the earthly trappings of royalty to dedicate his life to serving others, particularly the poor. We pray that through the intercession of St. Casimir, we as a Parish will become more Christ-like, dedicating ourselves to be of service to others, particularly to the poor in our community.

It is also a time for all of us to recommit ourselves to living our Catholic Faith. The external signs of our expressions of Faith – participation at Mass, receiving the sacraments – are important as they not only offer Christian witness to our Faith but actually strengthen our commitment to grow in our Faith every day.

                      God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

DAY OF PRAYER FOR LITHUANIANS

The Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference writes to all Lithuanian parishes around the world: “This is the sixth year that we gather together to pray for Lithuanians and those of Lithuanian descent. 2019 is being celebrated as the Year of Lithuanians Around the World. On the first Sunday of March we pray for all establishing and active Lithuanian communities, wherever they may be – in the farthest corners of the planet or those in our homeland... As we pray for Lithuanian communities around the world, we thank God for those who stayed in the homeland, for those who were able to leave and for all who helped Lithuanians establish a new life far from their own country... (Today) let us extend a hand to help others, especially those of Lithuanian heritage, who might have left their homes and have been ensnared by human trafficking and present-day slavery. Let us never lose courage or strength to help those who struggle. Let us unite our forces to eradicate the evil of human trafficking by reporting anything that relates to the inhuman treatment of men, women and children. This year, on March 3rd, we unite to pray for Lithuanians around the world. The Lithuanian Bishops Conference Delegate, Msgr. Edmond J. Putrimas will be in Copenhagen to pray with members of the Lithuanian communities living in Denmark.”
