October 4-5, 2014

On October 8, 2013, Pope Francis announced that in October 2014 there would be an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on topics related to the family and evangelization. Subsequent communications made clear that the Extraordinary General Assembly would be followed by an Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2015, on the same topics.

The theme of this gathering is "the pastoral challenges of the family in the context of evangelization." Our Holy Father has asked for prayers from the faithful as this gathering of Bishops explores the challenges facing families today. A copy of this prayer is included with this bulletin.

                                             God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

ALL SAINTS DAY AND ALL SOULS DAY

Saturday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints. This year, because it falls on a Saturday, All Saints day is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Sunday, November 2nd, is the Commemoration of All Souls, the day we remember our dead. The weekend Masses will be the All Souls Day Masses.
There will be no evening commemoration of All Souls this year. However, an All Souls Day envelope is included with the offering envelopes with space to include the names of the dead you want to be remembered at the Mass and in prayers during the entire month of November. Please return your envelope by November 2nd.

DIOCESAN REVIEW BOARD

The Review Board for the Diocese of Cleveland needs two members: an individual with experience in investigations, and a survivor of child sexual abuse who has completed a course of treatment. The Review Board advises the Bishop of Cleveland on keeping children safe from sexual abuse and examines allegations of sexual abuse of minors by clerics.

Consider applying for the Review Board if you have an abiding interest in young people, and are an independent thinker, self-motivated, and able to make a significant time commitment. Members are from varied life experiences who are in full communion with the Catholic Church. A term is five years.

The application can be downloaded from http://www.dioceseofcleve

The Diocese’s Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse: Revised, 2007 is available at http://bit.ly/JlyGTh.  The deadline for application is
December 1, 2014. Selected candidates will be notified for interviews. Call the Board Chair Patricia Ritzert (330) 472-2158 with your questions .

PHOTO ARCHIVE

Our parish has maintained a photo archive on Flickr, and we are always looking for pictures of parish events. If anyone has pictures of parish events, especially of Confirmation, please e-mail them to Danute Belzinskas: crhoh@att.net so they can be posted.

CLAMBAKE FUND-RAISER NOTES
Have you purchased your Fall Raffle tickets?

Raffle tickets were mailed to those who did not pick them up last week. Additional tickets are available at the rectory during the week or in the Book Room by the main entrance of the Church.

Dinner tickets are now available

Tickets for the Clambake and Steak Roast dinners, and extra Clam tickets are now available. They will be sold after the weekend Masses at the back of the Church and in the lower hall, and also during the week at the rectory. Clambake and Steak Roast dinner tickets are $29.95 each and extra clams are $10. The last day to purchase tickets is Sunday, October 19th.

Helpers are needed

For our clambake to be a success, we need volunteers to help with just about every aspect of the event. We have several different sign up sheets in the Book room. If you can help us by baking a dessert, decorating or setting up the hall, helping with cleanup, or driving guests to their cars at Jakubs, please sign up in the book room.

Show your support for our parish in the program book

We invite you to have your greetings printed in the book or purchase advertising in the book. And advertising form is included in with this week’s bulletin. Additional copies are in the Book Room and in the Rectory.

Our clambake this year falls on the 5th Anniversary of our First Mass as St. Casimir Parish. We want everyone to a part of this celebration and look forward to seeing you there.
