LITHUANIAN CULTURAL GARDEN

Lithuanian Cultural Garden Committee members invite Lithuanian Cultural Garden members, prospective members and supporters to their annual picnic on Sunday, June 5th, at 12:00 noon, at the pavilion at the end of East Park Ave and Lake Erie.

BALTIC COMMEMORATION

On Sunday, June 19th, the Baltic American Committee of Cleveland is sponsoring a prayer service to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the occupation of the Baltic States and remember the victims of the mass deportations of June 13-14, 1941. The service will take place at 2:00pm at the Latvian Lutheran Church at the corner of Andrews Ave. and Detroit Rd. in Lakewood. Refreshments will be served afterward. There will be a guest speaker at the event. All are invited to join with the Estonians and Latvians for this commemoration.

TOUCH THE WORLD ONE CHILD AT A TIME

Today more and more children find themselves homeless. Blessing House, a crisis care center for children in the Cleveland area, provides children a safe and loving environment until they can go home. The Sisters of Notre Dame invite single women, ages 18-35, to volunteer at Blessing House from June 26-July 1. For more information, contact Sister M. Kelly Rush, SND at 440-241-3124, or by email: krush@ndec.org  Register online at www.sndchardon.org

BENEDICTION FOR LIFE

All are invited to participate in the 5th annual Eucharistic Procession and Benediction for Life on Sunday, June 5th, at Our Lady of Peace Church (12601 Shaker Blvd.) Fr. Dave Baugh will begin the service at 2:00pm in the church, followed by a procession to an abortion facility on Shaker Blvd., prayer at the abortion facility, and then a procession back to the Church for a closing benediction. For more information, contact John Noall at 216-245-9744.

This weekend we will be participating in the follow-up In-Pew Parish Appeal for Catholic Charities and the Rose-Mary Home. The money raised for the Appeal is an act of mercy that will change the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ, especially the children and young adults with disabilities living at Rose-Mary. All new, increased and additional gifts made in the in-pew envelopes this weekend or donated online at www.CatholicCommunity.org/challenge will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000, and all proceeds will be invested in Rose-Mary’s Homes for Our Future Project to enhance the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The love of Jesus powers the mission at Catholic Charities as they reach out - with your help - to people who suffer from personal loss, disabilities, violence, hunger and poverty. We are called to carry out the teachings of Jesus Christ with mercy, charity and thanksgiving. How will you respond to Jesus’ call?

God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS

Post 613 of the Catholic War Veterans is having its annual Poppy Distribution the weekend of May 21-22, before and after all Masses. The red poppy is a symbol of the blood shed by our military and a reminder of the sacrifice they made for us. Proceeds from the donations received support the Post’s work with disabled and hospitalized veterans.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, May 22nd, after all the Masses, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Adults - $7 and children 12 and younger - $4. Save $1 by purchasing your ticket early. Tickets are available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass, and at the Rectory during the week. All proceeds benefit the Parish.

CONGRATULATIONS

This weekend, Bishop Lennon ordained five men as priests in our diocese. Congratulations to Father Andrew Hoover, Father Kevin Klonowski, Father James Kulway, Father John Mulhollan, and Father Patrick Schultz. May God be with them as they begin a lifetime of service to the people of our Diocese.

FLOWERS FOR OUR BLESSED MOTHER

May is the month of Mary when traditionally we make an extra effort to honor Mary with our prayers as well as gifts of flowers. We invite you to bring flowers (cut flowers in your vase or potted plants) and place them on Mary’s altar. Altar Society members will help maintain them and make sure your vase (please mark it with your name) is kept for your return. Honor Mary in May with prayer, flowers, and by lighting a candle.
