ALL SAINTS DAY

Tuesday, November 1st, is the Feast of All Saints, a holy day of obligation. Masses to fulfill this obligation will be celebrated here at 7:30am and 7:00pm.

ALL SOULS DAY

Wednesday, November 2nd is the Feast of All Souls, the day we remember our dead. The three traditional All Souls Day Mass will be offered at 7:30 am (English), 12:00 noon (English) and 7:00 pm (Lithuanian). Following the evening Mass we will have the traditional Lithuanian All Souls procession and prayers for the dead. We invite families who have lost a loved one since last November 2nd, to participate in the commemoration. An All Souls day envelope is included with the offering envelopes with space to include the names of the dead you want remembered in the Masses.

We also have a special All Souls Day candles available at the Rectory which can be inscribed with the name of the deceased you want remembered. These candles will burn for 5 days beginning on November 2nd. For your convenience candle order envelopes can be found on the bulletin tables. The donation for the All Souls Day candle is $5. All are invited to remember their loved ones with an All Souls Day candle.

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU

We congratulate the winners of our Annual Autumn Raffle drawing that was held last Saturday at our clambake: Gregory and Patricia Nemecek won the grand prize of $1,000, Jerome Borris - $500, Virginija Rubinski - $300, John Visnauskas and Aurelija Jucaitis each won $100. We thank everyone who came to our clambake and we thank our clambake committee and all our dedicated volunteers who worked so hard to make this fund raising event a success. 129 dinners were served. After all expenses are paid, the profit was $8,670.75.

LITHUANIAN LINENS

The Altar Society decorates the church for various occasions. We have a very small number of Lithuanian linens and would like to have a bigger inventory. If anyone has such linens collecting dust in a drawer, Society members would be happy to accept them and use them as needed in decorating the church.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, November 13th, in our Lower Hall after all the Masses (8:30 am to1:30 pm. We invite everyone to come enjoy the best pancakes in the area. Beginning next weekend, tickets will be available at the main entrance to the Church after the English Masses, in the Lower Hall after the 10:00 Mass, and at the Rectory during office hours. Adult tickets are $7 and children 6 to 13 are $4 at the door. Save $1 by purchasing your tickets in advance.

ROOTED IN FAITH

Last week, we received our quarterly distribution of Rooted in Faith - Forward in Hope funds in the amount of $1,692.00. So far, we have received $50,598.00 for our own parish projects. Every payment made on your pledges benefits our parish, as we receive 30% of the funds collected. Our parish raised $249,138.00 in pledges. If everyone fulfills their pledge, we will receive a total of $74,741.00. So if you are behind on your pledge payments, we remind you to make an effort to catch up, and if anyone wishes to make a gift to the campaign or increase their pledge, they can contact Angie Pavlik at the Catholic Community Foundation (216-696-6525, ext 1303).

This weekend, our Lithuanian parishioners along with many in the Lithuanian Community in the Cleveland area are gathering here at St. Casimir’s Parish to celebrate Lithuanian Days – an annual event celebrating Lithuanian culture. Saturday evening is a celebra-tion of Lithuanian music, friendship and fellowship, and Sunday morning our 10:00 Mass is a celebration of our Catholic Faith.

Since Lithuania regained its freedom with the fall of the Soviet Union, there has been tremendous growth in culture in Lithuania and a new focus of Lithuanian Days here from a time of remembering the past to a celebration of life today.

An important part of our Lithuanian culture is our Catholic Faith that was suppressed for a half century. Over the years in this country, we have seen a great number of Lithuanian communities that had been anchored by a Catholic Parish disband with the closing of Parishes, leaving only a small remnant of primarily older people. I believe that we are very fortunate here in Cleveland to have our parish dedicated to serve as an anchor to our Lithuanian community.

The Lithuanian Community in Cleveland is made up of people of all ages, who were born here in the United States, in Lithuania and elsewhere. This weekend, I welcome all of you home here at St. Casimir’s. I want everyone to know that this is your parish and I invite your participation in the life of the Parish Community.

Remember that the more of you who participate fully in the life of the Parish, the stronger our community becomes.  We are here to meet your spiritual and cultural needs, and we can only do this when you are here.

Welcome home and may God Bless you!         Fr. Joe Bacevice

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION:

Friday, November 4th is the First Friday of the Month. We will have our monthly Eucharistic Adoration from 8-9 am. We invite everyone to spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Our evening Adoration will be on Wednesday, November 9th from 6-9 pm. We are looking for individuals to commit to spending specific times in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. If you are able to commit to a specific time, please sign up in at the main entrance to the Church.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY

Catholics across the country will celebrate Priesthood Sunday on October 30. It is a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is also a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us - when we gather together at the Table of the Lord, and when we call on them in our times of need – and to consider sharing a personal note or a card of thanks with them. Together we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests. We also pray that their hearts be open to hearing and responding to God’s call in their lives. More information on priesthood can be found at www.clevelandcatholicpriesthood.com.

TIME CHANGE NEXT WEEKEND

Next weekend, we change our clocks back to Standard Time. Next Saturday evening remember to set your clocks back one hour.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

This Sunday, October 30, is the deadline for submitting your application to be a member of the Parish Council. Application forms are in the Book Room. Please consider serving on this important council in our Parish.
