MASSES

We have just a few Masses available for this year. There are two Sunday Masses: September 30th at 8:00am and December 23rd at 12:00 noon. We have daily Masses available on October 2, 3, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 22 and November 5, 8, 12, 13, and 15. Those who want to schedule Masses on those dates are asked to contact the Parish office this week. Once these Masses are scheduled, we will begin accepting Mass intentions for 2019.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION:

Friday, May 4th is the First Friday of the Month. Eucharistic Holy Hour will take place after the 7:30am Mass until 9:00am. Also, on Wednesday, May 9th, we will have our monthly evening adoration from 6-7pm. All are invited to spend some time on either or both of these days in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

HOLY NAME SOCIETY

Our Holy Name Society appreciates your support. Each summer the Holy Name Society sponsors and organizes an annual summer picnic for all parishioners. They provide hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks and soft drinks. Many attendees bring side dishes, salads and desserts. Everyone has a good time. In addition to the Summer Picnic, the Holy Name Society sponsors our monthly Eucharistic Adoration, and raises money for various Parish projects. The Holy Name is always looking for new members. Consider using the May Holy Name Society offering envelope to become an active or supporting member. Dues are only $5 for the year.

     SMILE…

Every so often, we need something to put a smile on our faces. It seems that there are so many challenging things happening, that sometimes we just need a little something to make us smile.

Not long ago, a parishioner sent me this: A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was very small. The little girl said that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girls said, “When I get to heaven, I will ask Jonah.” The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?” The little girl replied, “Then you ask him.”

Periodically I will print other humorous stories and anecdotes. If anyone has any they want to share, email them to me at: joebacevice@sbcglobal.net

God Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

We ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Richard Suchy who died last week and was buried from our parish. May he have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

HOME MISSION OFFERING

This weekend we will accept offerings for the Catholic Home Mission Appeal. Right now, over 40% of dioceses in the United States are considered home mission territory because they are unable to fund the essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support funds programs such as religious education, seminary formation, and lay ministry training, to build vibrant faith communities right here in the United States. Please be generous.

CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS

As Memorial Day approaches, our Catholic War Veterans Post 613 prepares to have its annual Poppy Distribution. This activity enables the Post to continue their welfare programs for our veterans and their families. They will be distributing poppies and accepting donations after all the Masses the weekend of May 26-27. Please be generous in supporting their work.
