HOLY NAME
SOCIETY INVITES EVERYONE
Our Holy
Name Society is pleased to invite the entire parish to attend the Holy Name
Picnic and Cookout on Wednesday, July 26th, from 5-8pm in the
back yard of the convent building. Hot dogs, burgers, snacks and soft drinks
will be served. Last year, we had live entertainment which might be repeated
this year. There is no cost for the picnic as the Holy Name Society underwrites
the entire cost. In case of rain, the food will be served in the lower hall.
This is a good way to meet fellow parishioners and learn about the Holy Name
Society.
BECOME A HOSPICE VOLUNTEER
Touch
a life, become a Hospice Volunteer. Hospice is a philosophy of care, not a
place. We care for our patients wherever they call home. As a vital part of our
team, our volunteers come from all walks of life and have a variety of skills,
talents and abilities. Opportunities to serve are diverse: visiting patients and
families to provide companionship, socialization, and comfort, help with legacy
work, sitting vigil with dying patients, providing transportation, providing
help with light housework, meal preparation, running errands, helping with
clerical work, assisting with the reception desks, sharing musical talents, and
much more.
Volunteer education is
held frequently throughout northern Ohio. Volunteers not having contact with
patients take 4 hours of training, while patient care volunteers take 16 hours
of training. Visit the Hospice of the Western Reserve website for more
information or to fill out an application:

call
216-255-9090.
The
FEST
Every
Year after The FEST we receive many of emails from individuals telling us how
much they enjoyed our annual Catholic Family Festival and how it was the
highlight of their summer. Don’t miss out on Sunday, August 6th
as we come together for The FEST from 12:00 to 10:00pm at the Center for
Pastoral Leadership (28700 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe). Join thousands from around
our region for a day of faith, family and great fun. It’s all free.
Listen to inspiring music, visit activities for kids and displays to help you
strengthen your family life and so much more. There is plenty of free close-in
parking, plenty of affordable food thanks to Executive Caterers and Marc’s.
There is something for everyone at the FEST The day concludes with a beautiful
outdoor Mass at 8:00pm followed by an incredible American Fireworks display.

As everyone probably knows, last Tuesday, Pope Francis appointed Bishop
Nelson J. Perez the Bishop of Cleveland, ending seven months of
waiting for a new Bishop for our Diocese.
Bishop Perez was born in Miami, Florida in 1961, of Cuban immigrant parents
and grew up in northern New Jersey. After completing college, he taught grade
school in Puerto Rico for two years before entering the seminary. He was
ordained to the priesthood to serve the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1989. He
served in Philadelphia until he was ordained Bishop to serve in the Diocese of
Rockville Centre, Long Island, New York, in 2012.
I have not met Bishop Perez yet, but from his public appearances he seems
to be enthusiastic and looking forward to coming to Cleveland. Being born of
immigrant parents, he is aware of and is sensitive to the needs of the ethnic
communities. He commented that for the past five years, he was a Cuban American
bishop living in a Polish parish in New York. I believe that Bishop Perez will
be a good friend to the Lithuanian community in Cleveland.
I hope you will join me in welcoming Bishop Perez to the Diocese and pledge
to cooperate with him to build up the Body of Christ, the Church, in the Diocese
of Cleveland.
God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
We
ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Frances Keck who died last week
and was buried from our Parish. May she have eternal rest in the peace of God’s
Kingdom.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Our
next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, August 13th, from 8:30am
to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at the main
entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the
Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, and children 12 and younger - $4.
Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the parish.
ACCESS TO THE LOWER HALL
Until Monday, August 7th,
access to our lower hall will be ONLY from the Marcella Road entrance.
Construction going on in the old cloak room, Youth Room, and old shower room
will close off that area of the school building. This will primarily affect
those who go to Sunday Coffee after the 10:00 Mass. This is being done for the
safety of everyone who goes into the building.
