August 8 - 9, 2015

It seems that once August comes, we realize that summer is winding down and soon we will be beginning our Autumn - Winter - Spring activities. Our organizations have their regular activities and we have our regular parish events. Every year we have special activities when we have joint activities with others within our ethnic community - as in this summer’s Lithuanian song festival in Chicago, or next summer’s Lithuanian dance festival in Baltimore We also have our ongoing activities such as Eucharistic adoration, pancake breakfasts, and fund-raisers like our annual clambake. Some activities are specific to an organization and some are for everyone in the parish.

It is amazing to me that there are so few of us - under 400 families - yet we are doing so much. There is still more that we should be doing, and I am confident that we will continue to do more. When we opened nearly six years ago, our goal was to attract people committed to building a unique parish where everyone feels welcome and is invited to be involved in the life of the Parish. We continue to work towards that goal.

I invite all of you to renew your commitment to St. Casimir’s Parish. I invite all of you to give of your time, your talent and your treasure to build up our parish. Finally, I invite your thoughts and ideas on what we can do to become a better Parish. If we continue to work together, we will see our Parish grow stronger and greater every day.

                                                               God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

Please remember in your prayers the soul of Melina Caruso who recently died and was buried through our Parish. May he have eternal rest in the peace of God’s Kingdom.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

All are invited to our Pancake Breakfast in our lower hall after all the Masses this Sunday. Tickets at the door cost $7 for adults (age 14 and up) and $4 for children (age 5-13). All proceeds will be given to the Parish.

The FEST

Join us today, August 9th, on the grounds of the Center for Pastoral Leadership (28700 Euclid Ave. in Wickliffe) from 12 noon until 10:00pm for The FEST. Hear great music, enjoy activities for the entire family, join thousands for Mass at 8:00pm, and experience the event of the summer. There is plenty of close parking and activities for everyone. For all the details, visit www.TheFEST.us
See you at The FEST!

MONTHLY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Wednesday, August 12th, we will have our monthly Eucharistic Adoration in the church from 6:00-9:00pm. All are invited to spend some quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. For those able to make a commitment to spend time in prayer, we ask you to sign up for a specific time. The sign up sheet is located in the main entrance to the Church.

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

Saturday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother into Heaven. Because this feast occurs on Saturday this year, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation.

FAITH AND VALUES

As summer vacations come to a close, we look forward to the beginning of another school year in our Catholic Schools across the diocese. We will accept donations to the “The Faith and Values Appeal for Education” next weekend to provide tuition support for needy students and their families right here in our own diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Our Parish religious education program has already started for this school year, but there is still time to register your children for classes. Children of grade school age should be receiving formal religious training, either in a Catholic school, or in a parish PSR program. Two years of Catholic instruction is required for First Communion, and Confirmation is administered in the eighth grade. Families with children who need to enroll in our PSR program, are asked to contact the parish office as soon as possible to register.

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

The Diocese of Cleveland’s “Protecting God’s Children” program is vigilant in its efforts to raise awareness and protect children from sexual abuse. To report any past or present suspected inappropriate behavior toward children by priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers, or personnel associated in any way with the Church, please contact local civil authorities and the Diocesan Response Services office at 216-334-2999 or via email at response_services@dioceseofcleveland.org.
