HOLY NAME SOCIETY INVITES EVERYONE

Our Holy Name Society is pleased to invite the entire parish to attend the Holy Name Picnic and Cookout THIS WEDNESDAY, July 26th, from 5-8pm in the back yard of the convent building. Hot dogs, burgers, snacks and soft drinks will be served. Last year, we had live entertainment which might be repeated this year. There is no cost for the picnic as the Holy Name Society underwrites the entire cost. In case of rain, the food will be served in the lower hall. This is a good way to meet fellow parishioners and learn about the Holy Name Society.

ACCESS TO THE LOWER HALL

Until Monday, August 7th, access to our lower hall will be ONLY from the Marcella Road entrance. Construction going on in the old cloak room, Youth Room, and old shower room will close off that area of the school building. This will primarily affect those who go to Sunday Coffee after the 10:00 Mass. This is being done for the safety of everyone who goes into the building.

GOLF OUTING

The Lithuanian Club is having its Annual Golf Outing to benefit the Club’s Capital Fund, on Saturday, August 19th, at Pine Ridge Country Club. Registration deadline is August 15th. Golfers are encouraged to register early. To register contact John Sarkauskas (440-725-7110) or Lenny Kedys (216-215-4069).

The FEST

Every Year after The FEST we receive many of emails from individuals telling us how much they enjoyed our annual Catholic Family Festival and how it was the highlight of their summer. Don’t miss out on Sunday, August 6th as we come together for The FEST from 12:00 to 10:00pm at the Center for Pastoral Leadership (28700 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe). Join thousands from around our region for a day of faith, family and great fun. It’s all free. Listen to inspiring music, visit activities for kids and displays to help you strengthen your family life and so much more. There is plenty of free close-in parking, plenty of affordable food thanks to Executive Caterers and Marc’s. There is something for everyone at the FEST The day concludes with a beautiful outdoor Mass at 8:00pm followed by an incredible American Fireworks display. Check out the details online at www.theFEST.us   Please join us.

At the end of this month there will be a big change coming to our Parish. Janet Verbyla, our facilities manager, secretary, and friend to so many in the parish is retiring. Janet has been here at St. Casimir’s from its beginning in 2009, and worked at St. George’s for more than twenty-five years before that. Before coming to work for the Church, she worked for many years at the Lithuanian Club. Janet has been involved in one way or another in the Lithuanian community since the early 1970's and is a friend to many both in the parish and in the greater Lithuanian community.

Over the years, Janet has been a great help to me in my work both here at St. Casimir’s and at St. George’s. Her willingness to work in all aspects of parish life, from the days of Bingo, closing St. George’s and opening St. Casimir’s, working with our tenants and contractors, and through our Parish Clambake has endeared her to so many people. There was never a job too big or too small for her to take on and see it through. I know that I will miss her as I’m sure many of you will too. Her last day will be this Friday, July 28th. Janet will continue helping us out on a part time basis, usually working on Fridays.

As we say good bye to Janet, we also want to welcome her daughter Laura Verbyla who will be taking over her job. Laura has worked for us part time since the beginning of the year. As we make this transition, feel free to stop by and say good bye to Janet and introduce yourself to Laura.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

MISSION APPEAL

On the weekend of August 5-6, Rev. Fernando Caindec, from the Diocese of Sorsogon, Philippines, will be here on a Missionary Appeal for his diocese. He will preach at all the Masses about the work of his diocese and their unique needs and to ask for your support through prayer and material support. Please be generous with both.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, August 13th, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, and children 12 and younger - $4. Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the parish.
