PLEASE PRAY

We ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Father John Wright and the soul of Emily Bossard who died recently and was buried from our parish. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

MEMORIAL DAY

Monday, May 28th is Memorial Day. Again this year, our Catholic War Veterans Post 613 will have their annual Memorial Day commemoration here at St. Casimir, beginning at 8:30am with a service at the Freedom Memorial in our Neff Road parking lot, followed by Mass. The commemoration will conclude with breakfast in our lower hall. All are invited.

WELCOME NEW PRIESTS

This Saturday, May 19th, Bishop Perez ordained three men as priests to serve our diocese. We congratulate Father Matthew Cortnik, Father Michael Feldtz, and Father Richard Samid. May God’s blessings be with them as they begin their priestly service to the Church of Cleveland.

BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
MOTHER OF THE CHURCH

Pope Francis has added a Memorial for “The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church” to the General Roman Calendar. It will be celebrated each year on the Monday after Pentecost. This year it will fall on Monday, May 21st. This new Memorial supersedes the rubric at the end of Pentecost Mass which suggests that a Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit be celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost. The readings of the day are proper and not optional.

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN

The Diocese of Cleveland’s “Protecting God’s Children” program is a continuing effort to instruct and inform everyone about the protection of children from sexual abuse. To report any past or present suspected inappropriate behavior toward children by priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers or personnel associated with the Church, contact the Diocesan Response Service Office at 216-334-2999 or by e-mail:responseservices@dioceseofcleveland.org You are also asked to immediately inform local authorities about inappropriate behavior.

LITHUANIAN CULTURAL GARDENS

The Lithuanian Cultural Gardens Committee cordially invites the Lithuanian Cultural Gardens members and those who would like to join to their annual picnic on Sunday, June 3rd, at 12:00 noon at the Beachland Pavilion at the end of East Park and Dorchester Roads on Lake Erie. New members and supporters are invited to attend.

This weekend, we are participating in an important Follow-Up Parish Appeal for Catholic Charities. This is not a special collection, but rather a chance for all Catholics to help transform lives and communities by sharing the gifts which God has given us with others.

Funds raised through this effort will be used to expand treatment and prevention services to fight the opioid crisis that has a grip on our families, friends and communities. In 2017, nearly 1,200 people in our diocese died of drug overdoses. With your help, Catholic Charities will be able to expand their reach into every county and provide help and hope to those suffering from addiction.

All donations made in the in-Pew envelopes this weekend or donated online at www.CatholicCommunity.org/Challenge will be matched up to $100,000. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by drug addiction. Prayerfully consider the impace you can have on their recovery and please give as generously as possible. Thank you for making a difference.

God Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

PICK UP YOUR SPRING FLOWER ORDERS

Those who ordered flowers and plants from the Altar Society are reminded to pick up their orders this saturday, May 19th, from 2-5pm, after the 5:30 Mass and on Sunday, May 20th, after all the Masses (9-1pm). If you forgot to order plants, there will be some extras available for sale during the pick-up times. We thank everyone for their support.

CHURCHYARD CLEAN UP

Now that spring is finally here, we are having our Annual Yard Clean-up on Saturday, May 26th, beginning at 9:00am. If you can help out, please sign up at the main entrance to the Church. If you have gardening tools, please bring them.

CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS

As Memorial Day approaches, our Catholic War Veterans Post 613 prepares to have its annual Poppy Distribution. This activity enables the Post to continue their welfare programs for our veterans and their families. They will be distributing poppies and accepting donations after all the Masses the weekend of May 26-27. Please be generous in supporting their work.
