August 22 - 23, 2015

Where has summer gone?  Last week, many of our children returned to school and more will return this week. In two weeks, we will celebrate Labor Day. The days are getting shorter and the weather is finally cooling down. Our Parish organizations will soon begin their programs after a summer break. For many in the Parish, it is time to say farewell to summer and look forward to all the activities that will occupy their time until next June.

As we begin new activities this fall, it is a good time to re-commit ourselves to our Parish. Since we became St. Casimir Parish nearly six years ago, our goal was to unite the Lithuanian community into one Church and open our doors to welcome others who want to be a part of our unique multi-cultural, ethnic community. The Sunday Eucharist is the center of our lives as Christian Catholics, and from this center, we branch out to provide ministries to bring us closer together and meet our needs.

I personally invite all of you to re-commit yourself to your Faith and to our Parish. Bring your joys and sorrows, your cares and concerns and place them before our Lord in the Eucharist. From there, let us together find happiness, contentment and fulfillment as we journey toward a closer union with our Lord.

                                                               God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

YOUNG ADULT BIBLE STUDY

The program Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible helps us read the big picture of God’s plan in Scripture, find our place in that story, and live it out in our lives. Join us at Cuvilly House, 18021 Marcella Rd (convent building) on the first and third Tuesdays this fall for an informative and interactive program of scripture study. An information night starting with a simple supper at 6:30pm will be offered on Tuesday, August 25th at Cuvilly House. Please RSVP to Sr. Kate Hine, SND khine@ndec.org or 440-476-6094.

and dinner tickets will be available after Labor Day. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles and sideboards..

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

Visit http://www.worldmeeting2015.org/ for the latest news on the World Meeting of Families Sept. 22-27, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA. The theme is: Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive! The August theme is: Choosing Life - God Made Us for a Reason. His love is our life mission, one that enables us to find our true identity. If we choose to embrace this mission, we will have a new perspective on many issues, not just the family. To live the mission of the domestic church means that Catholic families will sometimes live as minorities, with different values than their surrounding culture. Our mission of love will require courage and fortitude. Jesus is calling, and we can respond, choosing lives of faith, hope, charity, joy, service, and mission.

FINE ART AND JEWELRY EXHIBITION

Nijole Palubinskas, a St. Casimir parishioner, is an award-winning artist specializing in printmaking, and has exhibited her works in more than 100 art shows. Daughter Lina Palubinskas uses nature as an inspiration to craft fine jewelry from silver and semi-precious metals. Come see a joint exhibition of their artwork on Saturday, Sept. 12 (from 6:30-9:00pm) and Sunday, Sept. 13 (11:30-2:00pm). Light refreshments will be served and you will have the opportunity to view and purchase artwork.
