October 17 - 18, 2015

The past few weekends were busier than usual here at St. Casimir’s. We hosted Lietuviu Bendruomene’s national meeting, celebrated Fr. Lukas Laniauskas’ First Mass, and celebrated Dan Margevicius and Lana Pollock’s wedding. With these events going on, it’s a small wonder that no one has had time to consider running for a seat on our Parish Pastoral Council. We are accepting nominations until November 1st, and as of today, no one has submitted an application.

Our Pastoral Council is the most important advisory group I have in the parish. Every year we elect four members for a two year term. Members may be re-elected for one additional consecutive term, and then must wait one year before becoming eligible to run again. This year, three members of our current Pastoral Council are ineligible to run for another term. I am sure that there are at least three members of our parish who would be able to serve on the council. The application process is easy and application forms are available in the Book Room. We would like all applications to be submitted by Sunday, November 1st.

It is easy to sit back and watch, or to complain and criticize. It takes effort and commitment to become involved in the life of the parish. Being able to make a difference and be involved in Parish Life is a rewarding experience and worth the effort that goes into it. I invite everyone to consider running for a seat on our Pastoral Council.

                                                               God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY

We ask you to remember in your prayers Robert, Marsha and Paul Raddell as their son and brother Justin died and was buried from our parish. Justin was severely handicapped and our faith tells us we can be confident that he is with our Lord. May his family here on earth be consoled by our prayers for them.

 MISSION SUNDAY

Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday, that day all of us are asked to support the missionary efforts of the Church throughout the world. We do this by praying for the success of our missionaries and by contributing to support their work. We invite you to participate in this effort by donating to the Mission Sunday appeal. Please use the envelopes provided for this appeal next weekend.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY

Next Sunday, October 25th, Catholics across the country will be celebrating Priesthood Sunday - a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is a time to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us - when we gather at the Table of the Lord and when we call on them in our times of need - and to remember to send them a note of thanks or thank them in person. We pray that our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests and open their hearts to hear and respond to God’s call in their lives.
