RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
As the new school year
approaches, parents are reminded that their children of grade school age should
be receiving formal religious training, either in a Catholic school, or in a
parish PSR program. Two years of Catholic instruction is required for First
Communion, and Confirmation is administered in the eighth grade. Families with
children who need to enroll in our PSR program, are asked to contact the parish
office as soon as possible to register.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES UPDATE
Our Diocesan Catholic Charities reports that so far, the
Annual Appeal has raised $11,642,711, from 46,811 donors, representing 97% of
the diocesan goal. Our parishioners pledged $13,156 from 98 parishioners which
is 92% of our goal. It is surprising that only about 26% of our families
contributed this year. For those who have not contributed yet this year and
would like to help us meet our goal, contact Catholic Charities at

Last week, I received a letter from the Bishop’s office telling me that our
new Bishop, Nelson Perez, will be coming to our parish to administer the
sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday, September 20, at 7:00pm. This
will be just over two weeks after he will have been installed as the Bishop of
Cleveland. This will be a great opportunity for Bishop Perez to see our parish
facilities and meet our parishioners.
I encourage as many of you as possible to participate at the Mass of
Confirmation when four of our young adults will be confirmed. Afterward, we will
have a reception for our newly confirmed and the Bishop in our lower hall.
I also ask for volunteers to help plan and put on this reception. We will
need people to bake, set up, and clean up as well as acting as hosts and
hostesses for this event. Over the next few weeks, as this day comes closer, I
will have more information.
So please mark your calendars for this important event. I would like to see
as many of you as possible on September 20th.
God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice |
PLEASE PRAY
We
ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Sophie Zorskis, who died recently and was buried through out parish.
May she have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.
BISHOP MATULIONIS
We invite you to stop into
the Meditation Room at the main entrance to the Church to learn more about the
life of Blessed Teofilius Matulionis. The display will be taken down next week.
Remember to pray for his canonization.
FAITH AND VALUES APPEAL FOR EDUCATION
Catholic Schools are communities of
faith, knowledge and service. Academic success and rigorous achievement mark our
schools as outstanding institutions. Essential to the Christian message is the
command of Christ to serve others. Our students are at their best when they
exemplify in their actions this command, and they do so daily. Students, their
parents, grandparents and other family members sacrifice to provide a Catholic
education and are grateful for tuition assistance provided through the Faith
& Values Appeal for Education. Please pray that the generosity of our
parishioners will continue to support the formation of your youth in Catholic
schools where faith makes a difference. To donate online, go to
www.CatholicCommunity.org/eddonate or call Karen Joyce at
216-696-6525, ext 1910.
THANK YOU:
We thank
everyone who worked to make our Pancake Breakfast last weekend a success. A
total of 104 people enjoyed the best pancakes and crepes in the area. After
expenses, the profit was about $560.00. |
