EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
On
Friday, July 6th, we will have our First Friday
Eucharistic Holy Hour from 8-9 am. On Wednesday, July 11th,
we will have Eucharistic Adoration in the Church from 6-7pm. All are
invited to stop in and spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed
Sacrament.
MISSION
APPEAL
Next
weekend, Fr. Bill Roland, SM, of the Marist
Missions will conduct our summer Mission Appeal. Since its official
recognition by the Church in 1836, the Marist Fathers and Brother have
committed themselves to the missions of the southwest Pacific. Since that
time, they have expanded into areas of Africa, Asia and South America. Today
there are nearly 230 priests and brothers working in “bush stations,”
teaching, ministering in training institutions, providing direct service to
the poor, oppressed and marginalized, and contributing to the development of
people for a better society and a strong local church. Contributions to this
Mission Appeal will help the Marists in their mission to witness to the
Gospel, service to the needy and helping the local Church build a strong
base for its promising future. Thank you for whatever you can do to help
them in their life-long commitment and work. Special envelopes for this
appeal are on the tables at the entrances to the Church.
THE FEST
The best
gift you can give is your time. This Father’s Day weekend, make sure to
invite Dad (and the rest of the family) to spend time with you at the FEST
on Sunday, August 5th. The perfect family day and free
event is full of great music, engaging displays, and fun activities. Of
course, the highlight of the whole day is the outdoor Mass, beginning at
8:00pm with Bishop Perez. You and your dad are not going to want to miss any
of this, so make sure to head out to the Center for Pastoral Leadership in
Wickliffe for a day full of faith, family and friends. For more information

Wednesday is the Fourth of July, American Independence Day. As we
prepare to celebrate this holiday, we are reminded that our most precious gift
as citizens is our freedom, and we need to remember that this freedom has come
at a tremendous price. All of us need to take time during this holiday to thank
God for the gift of our freedom and pray for those who lost their lives that we
can live in freedom.
We are also reminded that we need to continue to be vigilant to protect our
freedom. Technology exists to monitor just about every aspect of our lives and
political expediency threatens our religious freedom. If we ignore these signs
in our society, we will see our freedom eroded and possibly lost.
Let us pray and use our influence to assure that the freedoms we have will
never be compromised.
God
Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

OFFERING FOR OUR HOLY
FATHER
This weekend
we will be accepting offerings for the Holy Father. Known for years as the
Peter’s Pence Collection, this offering supports the charitable work of the
Holy See throughout the world. Please be generous.
NO SUNDAY COFFEE
All are reminded that there
will be no coffee hour after the 10:00 Mass during the entire month of
July. Coffee will resume in early August.
PICNIC FOR PARISHIONERS
The
Holy Name Society is pleased to announce that this year’s Annual Picnic for
Parishioners will take place on Wednesday, July 25, from 5-8 pm for
the first time at the East Shore Park Club, at the corner of East
Park and Dorchester Dr., on the shores of Lake Erie. Hot dogs, burgers,
snacks and soft drinks will be served. There is no cost for the picnic as
the Holy Name Society underwrites the entire cost. This is a good way to
meet fellow parishioners and learn about the Holy Name Society. We look
forward to seeing you there. |
