It’s hard to believe that in a few weeks many of our children will be returning to school. For me, it’s a time to plan our religious education program for the coming year.

Parents really are the first teachers of their children and are the best teachers of their children. Faith and values are taught in the home from the an early age and  children learn these primarily by imitating their parents’ faith and values. As they begin school, children should be receiving formal religious education. Those who send their children to Catholic school receive religious education as part of the school’s curriculum, but those attending non-Catholic schools should be receiving their religious education through their parish.

Since we opened as St. Casimir Parish, we have offered religious education through our Parish School of Religion (PSR) program. This starts in pre-school and goes through Confirmation in the eighth grade. For children to receive their First Communion, they are required to have two years of religious education. For children to be confirmed, they must have one year of special classes specifically for Confirmation.

Parents who have children who should be receiving religious education are asked to contact Father Bacevice to register their children for the coming school year. By registering now, we can plan this year’s program to meet the needs of our children.

Parents: help us to help you provide religious education for your children by registering them for PSR classes here at St. Casimir’s.

God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

Please remember in your prayers the souls of Darius Barnes and David Gyori who died recently. May they live forever in the joy of the Resurrection.

WELCOME

We welcome into the Catholic Christian Community and our parish Antonio James Muniz, son of Adam Muniz and Elyse (nee) Penny. Antonio is being baptized at our Parish this weekend.

PICNIC FOR PARISHIONERS

The Holy Name Society is pleased to announce that the Annual Picnic for Parishioners will take place on Wednesday, July 31, from 5-8pm at the East Shore Park Club, at the corner of East Park and Dorchester Dr., on the shores of Lake Erie. Hot dogs, burgers, snacks and soft drinks will be served. There is no cost for the picnic as the Holy Name Society underwrites the entire cost. This is a good way to meet fellow parishioners and learn about the Holy Name Society. We look forward to seeing you.

SUNDAY COFFEE

During the month of July, there will be no coffee served after the 10:00 Mass. This gives our coffee hosts and hostesses a break during the warm summer days ahead.

50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION MASS

This year’s Jubilee Mass with Bishop Perez is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, at 10:00am. Online registration is now available. For more information contact Laura at the Rectory office or contact Jason Lewis at jrlewis@ccdocle.org or call 216-334-3974.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVES

The familiar story of Martha and Mary in today’s gospel serves as a reminder for us to “choose the better part” with our families. Are we too busy to really be present to each other? Give the gift of time and attention to spouse, children, parents and siblings. Truly listen to them and do what they enjoy doing. “Only if we devote time to our children, speaking of important things with simplicity and concern, and finding healthy ways for them to spend their time, we will be able to shield them from harm.”     (Pope Francis, The Joy of Love #260)

THE FEST
