Where has summer gone? Last week, many of our children returned to school and more will return this week. In two weeks, we will celebrate Labor Day The days are getting shorter and the weather will soon be cooling down. Our Parish organizations are getting ready to begin their programs after a summer break. For many in the Parish, it is time to say farewell to summer and look forward to all the activities that will occupy their time until next June.

As we begin new activities this fall, it is a good time to re-commit ourselves to our Parish. Since we became St. Casimir Parish almost ten years ago, our goal was to unite the Lithuanian community into one Church and open our doors to welcome others who want to be a part of our unique multi-cultural, ethnic community. The Sunday Eucharist is the center of our lives as Christian Catholics, and from this center, we branch out to provide ministries to bring us closer together and meet our needs.

I personally invite all of you to re-commit yourself to your Faith and to our Parish. Bring your joys and sorrows, your cares and concerns and place them before our Lord in the Eucharist. From there, let us together find happiness, contentment and fulfillment as we journey toward a closer union with our Lord.

God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

We ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Rev. Lucjan Stokowski, Gediminas (George) Puskorius, and Ronald Abramczyk. May they live forever in the joy of the Resurrection.

FAITH AND VALUES

Catholic schools make a profound impact on a child’s life. You can help provide more opportunities for students to obtain a Catholic education. Next weekend, a special parish appeal, the Faith and Values Appeal for Education, will be held across the diocese to raise funds to help provide tuition assistance to needy students and their families right here in our diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students.

THANK YOU

We thank the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association for their generous donation of $3,000 to our improvement fund, to repair the steps at the main entrance to the Church. They have also pledged to match our fund raising profit up to $600 for our next Pancake Breakfast and our Annual Clambake and Autumn Raffle. We ask God’s blessings on all their members for their generosity to us.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE

Today’s scriptures remind us that sinners resist truth, often preferring conflict and division. We are all sinners and often resist difficult truth and change. Let us be open to truth and smart about conflict! Don’t try to win and argument and lose a relationship. Run the race of life wisely. Pope Francis tell us to “rejoice at the good of others when we see their dignity and value their abilities and good works. This is impossible for those who must always be competing and comparing.”    (The Joy of Love #109)

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, September 15th, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, children 10 and younger are free. Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the parish.

CATHOLIC CEMETERIES

On October 6th, the month of the Most Holy Rosary, at 1:00pm, the Catholic Cemeteries Association invites families to participate in a half-mile walk while praying the Rosary in honor of departed loved ones. For those who cannot walk, or in case of rain, the Rosary will be prayed in the mausoleum or in the cemetery office. At the end of the Rosary, there is a brief candle lighting ceremony in remembrance of our dearly departed. We are seeking walkers and Rosary Leaders. If you are able to lead the Rosary, contact Rhonda Abrams at rabrams@clecem.org or call 216-930-4866. Register to walk online at: https://conta.cc/2XBXy8K or at a Catholic Cemetery office.
