CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN

Next weekend, we will accept donations for the Catholic Communications Campaign. Your offerings help communicate the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enrich our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese and support local needs. Please be generous.

NEWS FROM ST. JEROME PARISH

St. Jerome Parish will kick off their 100th Anniversary with the Annual Clam/Steak Bake next Sunday, September 24th, from 1-4pm. Dinner tickets are $30, extra clams - $10/dozen. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stjeromecleveland.org or by calling the church office at 216-481-8200.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

We are looking for a few good people to run for a seat on our Pastoral Council. This year we will elect four members to the Council. Application forms are available in the Book Room. Applications will be accepted until October 29th. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, is eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider serving on this important council in our Parish.

FALL FUND RAISER

Our 7th Annual Clambake/Steak Roast/Autumn Raffle will take place on Saturday, October 21st beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church. All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets, as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone. Dinner tickets will be available after Labor Day.
We invite everyone to participate in the fund raiser to support our parish. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles and much more.

WE ARE ASKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help with this project. Set up, clean up, bakers, and other volunteer positions need to be filled. Please sign up in the Book Room to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on October 21st.

PROGRAM BOOK Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of the church. We invite and encourage everyone to participate.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADULTS AND TEENS
TO LEARN ABOUT LITHUANIA

An expanded program for those who speak little or no Lithuanian:
1) Highlights of Lithuanian history and classics of Lithuanian literature in translation. All presentations and discussions will be in English. 75 minute sessions will be held once a month beginning September 24.
2) Learn to speak, read and write Lithuanian. This year emphasis will be on vocabulary, comprehension of spoken and written Lithuanian, and participation in conversations. Three monthly classes, beginner and intermediate levels, coordinated with the history/literature classes. You may choose one or both programs. For details, contact Vida Bucmys at 216-481-0653.

On the cover of our weekly bulletin, we welcome new people to our Parish and invite them to register. I’m often asked: Why register? There are many reasons. For the Parish, it gives us a better picture of our Parish. We are required to report statistics to the diocese which are used to determine the size of our diocese. These numbers are sent to Rome each year to there can be an accurate count of the number of Catholics in the world. The information we obtain from registrations helps us plan programs and events that will meet the needs of our people. Simply knowing the age of our members can help us design programs of religious education for our young people, assess the need for communion ministers to the homebound, and make plans for our future. We can also keep accurate records regarding contributions to the parish. For registered members, there is a sense of belonging to a faith community, the ability to fully participate in the life of the parish, determining jurisdiction for the sacrament of matrimony, and having a say in what happens in our Parish.

As we continue to see new people come to our parish, we invite them to register. For those who have been coming here for a long time, we invite you to make the commitment of joining our parish community. I also want you to know that we do not share any personal information with any other organization including the Diocese.

Registration forms are conveniently located in the Book Room off the main entrance to the church, they can be picked up at the Rectory during business hours (Mon-Fri 10:00am to 6:00pm), or just give us a call, and we’ll be happy to mail one out.

American Express used to advertise that “Membership has its privileges.” The same is true of St. Casimir Parish.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

PLEASE PRAY

We ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Ann Lazor, Helen DeGeorge, and Melvin Ball who died recently and were buried from our parish. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

We also need your help to bring baked goods and help set up and clean up for the reception. Please sign up at the main entrance to church.
