September 7 - 8, 2019 m.

With Labor Day last Monday, the official Summer Season is over. Most students are back in school, and parish activities are beginning.

This year will provide unique challenges for those using our school building and Hope House for activities. With the sewer project going on Marcella Rd., access to parking will be a challenge. For groups using the school building in the evenings, access to the parking lot is from Lake Shore Blvd., while access to the Hope House is from Reese Rd. We are in the process of installing a gate from our parking lot to the Hope House and should have it completed soon. As this work continues, we ask for everyone’s patience.

Now that most are back after summer, I ask those who have been away to make up their missed offerings. We have had to delay several repair projects because of a lack of funds.

Finally, it is not too early to start thinking about our Pastoral Council elections. We will be looking to elect four new members to the Council. I would like everyone to think about running for a seat on the Council.

As we begin a new activity season, I ask God’s blessings on all our organizations. May this coming year bring us closer, so we can more clearly reflect God’s love for His people.

God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR

On Wednesday, September 11th, we will have our evening Holy Hour from 6-7pm. All are invited to stop in for some quiet time of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Our next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, September 15th, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, children 10 and younger are free. Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the parish.

SUNDAY COFFEE

The Sunday Coffee Committee is asking for additional volunteer to host Sunday Coffee after the 10:00 Mass. Also, all are reminded that as costs have risen, so is the need for more generous donations from those stopping in for coffee. So please be generous. All proceeds are given to the parish.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE:

Successful family life requires forgiveness – many times! Each time we forgive from the heart, our heart becomes more like Jesus’ heart. This forgiveness must be mutual among all members. A family member who cannot forgive or accept forgiveness may need help from a priest or a therapist.

HEALING THE HUMAN FAMILY

Please join The Institute of Catholic Studies and the John Carroll - Sacred Heart University Partnership Committee for “Healing the Human Family,” a talk given by Archbishop John Baptist Odama, Archbishop of Gula, Uganda. Archbishop Odama is a leading peacemaker in Uganda. The talk will take place on September 10, at 5:00pm at the John Carroll University Donahue Auditorium in the Dolan Science Center. For more information call 216-397-4558.

FALL FUND RAISER

Our Ninth Annual Clambake/Steak Bake/Autumn Raffle will take place on Saturday, October 26th, beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church. All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets, as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone.

We invite everyone to participate in this fund-raiser to support our parish. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles, sideboards and much more. Dinner tickets will be available after Labor Day.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with this project. Set up, clean up, bakers, and other volunteer positions need to be filled. Please sign up in the Book Room to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on October 26th.

PROGRAM BOOK

Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of the church. Everyone is invited to participate.

KORP! GIEDRA ART SHOW

The Lithuanian women’s sorority Korp! Giedra is having a member’s art show next Sunday, September 15th, from 11:30 to 4:00 at the Lithuanian Hall. The show will include paintings, ceramics, weaving and jewelry. All are invited to come and enjoy the works of art after enjoying a delicious Pancake Breakfast at the parish. A chairlift is available to the handicapped to reach the second floor hall.

CATHOLIC FAMILY DAY AT THE BALLPARK

Join the Cleveland Indians for Mass and a ball game at the Catholic Family Day at Progressive Field on September 22. Pre-game Mass will be celebrated at 10:15am in the ballpark. Ticket prices begin at $18. For more information, call 216-420-4162, or email: jplys@indians.com
