Thursday of this week
is Thanksgiving Day, the
holiday set aside each year
for us to pause and give
thanks to God for all that
we have. Too many times we
allow ourselves to become
critics and complainers. It
seems that we can always
find things to criticize in
our society and in our
Church.
On Thanksgiving Day, we
are reminded to look beyond
the problems and
difficulties and look at
what we do have. Even our
poorest people have a place
to live and food to eat. We
have access to health care
and we have a voice in our
government. As people of
faith, we have much for
which we are thankful. We
are free to practice our
faith and we have a loving
God who watches over us.
On this Thanksgiving
Day, let us all take time to
offer a prayer of thanks to
God for all the gifts we
have received. Let us also
remember those who have less
than we do. Let us renew our
efforts to help everyone
improve their lives so we
can continue to grow as
people and as a society of
justice, of peace and of
love.
One of the best ways we
can offer thanks is to
worship together as a
community. On
Thanksgiving Day, I invite
everyone in the parish to
gather together for the
celebration of Mass at
9:00am
and to give thanks!
God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice
REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
We
ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of
Henry Pikturna
who died recently and was buried through our
parish. May he have eternal rest in the peace of God’s
kingdom.
THANKSGIVING DAY
Thursday
of this week is Thanksgiving Day, the day set aside each
year when we as a nation give thanks for all the blessings
we have received. We invite everyone to participate at Mass
on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00am. Our
office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
GIVING TREE
Our
Holy Name Society is again sponsoring a Giving Tree to
assist families in our own Parish who are in need of “a
little help” at Christmas. This year the items on the
ornaments are various gift and food cards in denominations
of $10 and $25. Simply choose what ornaments you want,
purchase the gift cards, and return them either in the
collection basket, at the Rectory, or give them to any
member of the Holy Name Society by December 13th.
They will be distributed to the families before
Christmas. |

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Many
American families struggle to make ends meet, but the
struggle is even more difficult for the nearly 40 million
Americans who have been living in poverty. Across the nation
the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) offers
solutions by supporting the poor and low-income in acquiring
affordable housing, fair wages, and access to health care
and vocational training. Your continued support helps to
fight poverty in America and defend human dignity. Please be
generous in supporting this important work of our Church. We
will be accepting donations for CCHD the weekend of
November 21-22.
COFFEE SCHEDULE
We
are organizing the After-Mass Coffee schedule for
2016. All organizations and parish families are invited
to continue in participating and hosting these coffee
socials. New participants are also invited to sign up for
2016. Families, friends, cohorts – get a group together and
volunteer to host an after-Mass coffee at least once a year.
The parish provides the coffee and supplies, you need only
to bring the baked goods, to put on the coffee, and then be
the good host J. To volunteer, please contact any of the
following by December 18: Dalia Armonas:
