ALL SOULS DAY and CANDLES

Thursday, November 2nd, is the Feast of All Souls, the day we remember our dead. The three traditional All Souls Day Masses will be offered at 7:30am (Engl.), 12:00 noon (Engl.) and 7:00pm (Lith.). Following the evening Mass we will have the traditional Lithuanian All Souls procession and prayers for the dead. We invite the families who have lost a loved one since last November 2nd, to participate in the commemoration. An All Souls Day envelope is included with the offering envelopes with space to include the names of the dead you want to be remembered in the Masses.

In addition, All Souls Day candles will be available at the Rectory which can be inscribed with the name of the deceased you want remembered. These candles will burn for 5 days beginning on November 2nd. The donation for each All Souls Day candle is $5. We invite everyone to participate in this commemoration.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

We are looking for a few good people to run for a seat on our Pastoral Council. This year we will elect four members to the Council. Application forms are available in the Book Room. Applications will be accepted until October 29th. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, is eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider serving on this important council in our Parish.

FALL FUND RAISER

Our 7th Annual Clambake/Steak Roast/Autumn Raffle will take place on Saturday, October 21st beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church. All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets, as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone. Dinner tickets will be available after Labor Day.
We invite everyone to participate in the fund raiser to support our parish. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles and much more.

PURCHASE YOUR DINNER TICKETS

Dinner tickets are available after weekend Masses at the back of the Church, in the lower hall after 10:00 Mass, and at the Rectory during the week. Dinner tickets are $35, additional clams - $10/dozen. Purchase 8 dinner tickets and reserve a table. We invite everyone to participate in the fund-raiser and support our parish. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles and much more.

WE ARE ASKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help with this project. Set up, clean up, bakers, and other volunteer positions need to be filled. Please sign up in the Book Room to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on October 21st.

PROGRAM BOOK Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of the church. We invite and encourage everyone to participate.

Congratulations to Audra Bielinis, Sinead Robertson, Elizabeth Tarasevich, and Faith Thompson who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Wednesday from Bishop Perez. My prayer for you is that you continue to remain close to the Church as you continue to grow and mature. May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen your faith and guide you every day of your lives.

Also, special thanks to those who worked so hard to make the Mass and reception a truly memorable event. I also thank everyone who took the time to come out to support our young people as they received this special sacrament and to meet our new Bishop.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice

CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN

This weekend, we are accepting donations for the Catholic Communications Campaign. Your offerings help communicate the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enrich our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese and support local needs. Please be generous.

BLANKET SUNDAY

The weekend of October 7-8 marks the 31st Annual Blanket Sunday Collection to aid the needy. This collection is sponsored by the Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Because of a lack of storage space, we will only accept cash donations. Special envelopes are available for this at the back of the Church.

FROM BISHOP PEREZ

The leadership of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has asked the Diocese of Cleveland and dioceses across the country to have an emergency collection for those impacted by Hurricane Irma.

I am aware that his call comes on the heels of the emergency collection for Hurricane Harvey. That storm, which hit Texas and Louisiana and caused catastrophic damage, compelled us to respond. Likewise, Hurricane Irma has been devastating, and our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean, especially in the Diocese of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, and the southern US need our help.

The Church is a channel for grace and solidarity in the wake of natural disasters as it offers solace and support in their aftermath. However, as is often the case, the Church in these regions is not only a long-standing provider of aid, but now in need of tremendous assistance itself. Many of the Church’s structures have been dam-aged and their resources depleted making it even more challenging to provide assistance and pastoral outreach to those in need.

The funds will be used in the affected areas to support humani-tarian aid, assistance with long-term efforts to restore communities after widespread destruction, and for the pastoral and recon-struction needs of the Church in the US and the Caribbean.

In support of this major relief effort, (I ask) that this special collection take place on the weekend of September 30, October 1, 2017. Checks from parishioners should be made out to “St. Casimir Parish” with the memo marked “Emergency Collection for Hurricane Irma.”
