HELP FOR THE ELDERLY

The State of Ohio has a program to help older adults and adults with disabilities keep cool this summer. The HEAP Summer Crisis Program can assist with cooling needs which may include a fan, air conditioner or payment toward and electric bill. For more information, call the Cleveland Department of Aging at 216-544-2189.

2018 FIRST STEP PROGRAM

Attempting to pick up the pieces of one’s life after the tragedy of divorce is an area that can impact a person’s relationship with God and the Church. One of the significant issues that a person faces is their place in the Church. Does the Church still care about me even though I am divorced? Am I allowed to go to Mass? Can I receive communion? How can the Church help me heal? If I decide to marry again, what do I have to do?

The Tribunal of the Diocese of Cleveland offers its First Step Program to help individuals deal with these questions in order to renew and/or strengthen their relationship with God and the Church. This program can help everyone, especially those who have experienced divorce, to learn more about Catholic teaching regarding marriage, divorce, and remarriage.

Everyone is welcome and invited to:

  • Deepen their knowledge of the Church’s teaching on marriage

  • Learn about the Church’s ministry to the divorced/ separated in the Diocese

  • Hear about the annulment process and how to submit a case

  • Discover a path to healing after divorce in order to strengthen and/or renew a relationship with God and the Church

In any endeavor, taking the “first step” is always the most difficult. The First Step Program helps individuals navigate the path of healing and closure. Please refer to the Tribunal website: www.dioceseofcleveland.org/tribunal for testimonials about the program from past participants.

The First Step Program will be held on Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00pm at St. Ambrose Parish, Brunswick, Representatives from the Ministry to the Divorced Office of the Department for Marriage and Family Ministry will also be present to explain the resources they offer to the divorced.

Note that the Diocese of Cleveland no longer requires any fees for this process. For more information check our website or call the Tribunal at 216-696-6525/800-869-6525, ext. 4000. (www.dioceseofcleveland.org/tribunal)

It seems that once August comes, we realize that summer is winding down and soon we will be beginning our Autumn - Winter - Spring activities. Our organizations have their regular activities and we have our whole parish events. We also have our ongoing activities such as Eucharistic Adoration, pancake breakfasts, Sunday Coffee, and our annual Fall Raffle and clambake.

It is amazing to me that there are so few of us – just over 400 families, yet we are able to do so much. There is still more that we should be doing, and I am confident that we will continue to do more. From the time we opened as St. Casimir Parish in the autumn of 2009, our goal was to attract people who are committed to building up a unique parish, where everyone feels welcome and is invited to be involved in the life of he Parish.

I invite all of you to renew your commitment to St. Casimir parish. I invite all of you to give of your time, your talent, and your treasure to build up our parish. Also, I invite all of you to offer your thoughts and ideas on what we can do to become a better parish. If we work together, we will see our parish grown stronger and greater every day.

God Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Wednesday, August 8th, we will have our Evening Holy Hour from 6-7pm in the Church. All are invited to stop in to spend some quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

SUNDAY COFFEE

Sunday coffee resumes this weekend after the 10:00 Mass. All are welcome to stop in and meet your fellow parishioners.

THE FEST

Join us today on the grounds of the Center for Pastoral Leadership (28700 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe) from 12 noon to 10pm for The FEST. Come hear great music, enjoy activities for the entire family, join thousands for Mass with Bishop Perez at 8pm. There is plenty of close-in parking and something for everyone. See you at The FEST.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As the new school year approaches, parents are reminded that their children of grade school age should be receiving formal religious training, either in a Catholic school, or in a parish PSR program. Two years of Catholic instruction is required for First Communion, and Confirmation is administered in the eighth grade. Families with children who need to enroll in our PSR program, are asked to contact the parish office as soon as possible to register.
