Saint
Casimir Parish
September 14 - 15, 2019 m.
On the cover of our weekly bulletin, we welcome new people to
our Parish and invite them to register. I’m often asked: Why
register? There are many reasons. For the Parish, it gives us a
better picture of our Parish. We are required to report statistics
to the diocese which are used to determine the size of our diocese.
These numbers are sent to Rome each year to there can be an accurate
count of the number of Catholics in the world. The information we
obtain from registrations helps us plan programs and events that
will meet the needs of our people. Simply knowing the age of our
members can help us design programs of religious education for our
young people, assess the need for communion ministers to the
homebound, and make plans for our future. We can also keep accurate
records regarding contributions to the parish. For registered
members, there is a sense of belonging to a faith community, the
ability to fully participate in the life of the parish, determining
jurisdiction for the sacrament of matrimony, and having a say in
what happens in our Parish.
As we continue to see new people come to our parish, we invite
them to register. For those who have been coming here for a long
time, we invite you to make the commitment of joining our parish
community. I also want you to know that we do not share any personal
information with any other organization including the Diocese.
Registration forms are conveniently located in the Book Room
off the main entrance to the church, they can be picked up at the
Rectory during business hours (Mon-Fri 10:00am to 6:00 pm), or just
give us a call, and we’ll be happy to mail one out.
American Express used to advertise that “Membership has its
privileges.” The same is true of St. Casimir Parish.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Welcome
to our Pancake Breakfast THIS Sunday,
September 15th,
from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Tickets are now available after the weekend Masses at
the main entrance to the Church, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and
at the Rectory during the week. Adult tickets - $7, children 10 and younger
are free. Save $1 by purchasing your tickets early. All proceeds benefit the
parish.
MASS OF ANOINTING
We
will celebrate the Mass of the Anointing of the Sick on Sunday, October
6, at 12:00 noon. We encourage our older members and those with chronic
illnesses to participate at that Mass and receive this important Sacrament
of healing.
SUNDAY
COFFEE
The
Sunday Coffee Committee is asking for additional volunteer to host Sunday
Coffee after the 10:00 Mass. Also, all are reminded that as costs have
risen, so is the need for more generous donations from those stopping in for
coffee. So please be generous. All proceeds are given to the parish.

PASTORAL COUNCIL
This
weekend we begin the nominating process for new members of our Pastoral
Council. This year, we will be electing four members to our Pastoral Council
for a two year term beginning January 1, 2020. Application forms are
available in the Book Room and will be accepted through November 3, 2019.
Voting begins on the weekend of November 16-17, 2019 and concludes December
1, 2019. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions,
is eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to
seriously consider serving on this important advisory body in our Parish.
FALL FUND RAISER
Our
Ninth Annual Clambake/Steak Bake/Autumn Raffle will take place on
Saturday, October 26th, beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our
upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church.
All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets,
as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone.
DINNER (as well as extra lottery drawing) TICKETS
ARE NOW AVAILABLE after weekend Masses at the main entrance to the
church, in the cafeteria after the 10:00 Mass, and during the week at the
rectory during business hours. Ticket prices: Clambake - $30, Steak-bake -
$35, extra dozen clams - $10. In addition to great food, there will be
plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles, sideboards and much
more.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
to help with
this project: help set up, clean up, bake, and help in other ways. Please
sign up in the church’s main entrance to help us out.
PROGRAM BOOK
Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund Raiser.
Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise
or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed
in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket
envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of the church. Everyone
is invited to participate. |
FAMILY
PERSPECTIVE:
The older brother in today’s Gospel resented the second chance his prodigal
brother received from their father and missed out on the celebration. Is
your heart held captive by resentment toward any family member and
preventing you from receiving God’s blessings? If so, pray for the grace to
forgive and become merciful like the Father.
KORP!
GIEDRA ART SHOW
The
Lithuanian women’s sorority Korp! Giedra is having a member’s art show
next Sunday, September 15th, from 11:30 to 4:00 at the
Lithuanian Hall. The show will include paintings, ceramics, weaving and
jewelry. All are invited to come and enjoy the works of art after enjoying a
delicious Pancake Breakfast at the parish. A chairlift is available to the
handicapped to reach the second floor hall.
CATHOLIC
FAMILY DAY AT THE BALLPARK
Join
the Cleveland Indians for Mass and a ball game at the Catholic Family Day at
Progressive Field on September 22. Pre-game Mass will be celebrated
at 10:15am in the ballpark. Ticket prices begin at $18. For more
information, call 216-420-4162, or email:
