November 2 - 3, 2019 m.

Over the past several weeks I have placed an announcement in the bulletin asking for volunteers to run for a seat on our Parish Pastoral Council. As of last Sunday, we have received one application.

Our Pastoral Council is the most important advisory group I have in the parish. The Pastoral Council advises me on all aspects of parish life, from making up Mass schedules to setting priorities for property repairs and improvements. Every year we elect four members and I appoint one member for a two year term. Two members of the Council must be from the Lithuanian community and two members must be from the non-Lithuanian community. They can be re-elected once before they are ineligible for one year.

This year, one member is ineligible to run for another term. Three members are eligible to run for re-election, and five member have one year left on the Council. The application process is easy.  Application forms are available in the Book Room and we would like all applications submitted by this Sunday, November 3rd.

It is easy to sit back and watch or to complain and criticize. It takes effort and commitment to become involved in the life of the parish. Being able to make a difference and be involved in Parish Life is a rewarding experience and worth the effort that goes into it. I look forward to your participation in our Pastoral Council

God Bless! Fr. Joe Bacevice

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Evening Adoration will be on Wednesday, November 11th from 6-7pm. Come spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

TIME CHANGE

This Sunday, November 3rd, the time goes back to Standard Time. Saturday, before going to bed, remember to set your clocks back one hour, or you will be really early for Mass next Sunday.

OUR CATHOLIC CEMETERIES

Today is Cemetery Sunday, a national day of observance to honor our departed loved ones in their sacred Catholic places of rest. All are invited to participate at Mass at 3:00pm at one of our Catholic Cemeteries. Mass at All Souls Cemetery will be celebrated in the Service Building. Our Catholic Cemeteries also sponsor Grief Support Groups at many of our cemeteries. The next Support Group meeting at All Souls Cemeteries will be held on Sunday, November 17th, at 3:00pm at the Cemetery Office. For more information, call them at 216-930-4866.

To enroll in online banking, simply go to our website, click on the button marked online giving, and follow the prompts. You will have the ability set up a whole year of giving at one time, and you will have the ability to change your offerings at any time, or make special one time offerings.
For your convenience, you will find simple to understand instruction sheets at the entrances to the Church. The process is simple and secure. Using online giving will help you be a more responsible donor to our parish.

HOLY NAME SOCIETY

The weekend of November 9-10, the Diocesan Union of Holy Name Societies is giving a Spiritual Bouquet to Bishop Perez. Please offer a Mass and Communion, pray the Rosary, or offer a Sacrifice for the intention of Bishop Perez.

BISHOP LENNON

We are saddened to hear of the death of Bishop Lennon Tuesday morning. As of the time of this writing, we have no funeral information. May he have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

THANK YOU

Thank you to all parishioners who have completed and submitted their Commitment Card to the church. If you have not yet had the opportunity to submit your card, a letter will be mailed to you with a personalized Commitment Card. It is important that all parishioners complete a Commitment Card as we will be mailing out a Summary Report of the program and will need all commitments accounted for. If you have any questions, please contact Father Bacevice. We also encourage all parishioners to consider our electronic giving method and to set up your reoccurring offertory gifts electronically.

ELECTION DAY

Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day, when all citizens are called to exercise their right to vote. The polls will be open from 6:30am until 7:30pm. With any “right,” there is a corresponding “duty,” and so with our right to vote, we also have a duty to vote. With 13 hours to vote on election day, as well as taking advantage of absentee ballots and early voting, there should be no reason for a citizen to not perform his/her duty to vote.

 CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU

We congratulate the winners of our Annual Autumn Raffle drawing that was held last Saturday at our clambake: John Kromar won the grand prize of $1,000, George Kephart - $500, Laura Verbyla - $300, and Remigijus Belzinskas and the Parish (the ticket was purchased by an anonymous donor) each won $100. 183 dinners were served. We thank everyone who participated at our clambake last Saturday evening. We also thank our clambake committee and all our dedicated volunteers who worked so hard to make this fund-raising event a success.

NOVEMBERFEST

All are invited to Borromeo Seminary’s Novemberfest Annual Italian Dinner which will take place on Saturday, November 10th, from 5-8pm at the Center for Pastoral Leadership (28700 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe). The evening will include a 50-50 Raffle and a Basket Raffle. Adult admission - $10, children 6-12 - $5, children under 6 admitted free. All proceeds benefit the activity fund for the college seminarians.

SUPPORT OUR MILITARY CHAPLAINS

Next weekend we will be accepting donations for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS). Established by Saint John Paul II in 1985, the AMS is the only U.S. diocese responsible for providing pastoral care to men and women who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, are enrolled in a U.S. Military Academy, are being treated as a patient at any of the 153 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, or are working for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, including those serving from our own parish and diocese. AMS priests and deacons serve approximately 1.8 million Catholics and their families, who hail from 50 states and U.S. territories. While the salaries and retirement of Catholic military chaplains are paid by the U.S. Government, the AMS does not receive any funding from the government or military for program and administrative costs. Please be generous.
