On next Pancake Breakfast will be on Sunday, November 12th, in our Lower Hall after all the Masses (8:30am to1:30pm).We invite everyone to come down and enjoy the best pancakes in the area. Beginning next weekend, tickets will be available at the main entrance to the Church after the English Masses, in the Lower Hall after the 10:00 Mass, and at the Rectory during office hours. ELECTION DAY

Tuesday, November 7th is Election Day, that day that all citizens are called to exercise our right to vote. The polls will be open from 6:30am until 7:30pm. As with any “right”, there is a corresponding “duty.” With our right to vote, we have a duty to vote. With 13 hours to vote on election day along with absentee ballots and early voting, there should be no reason for a citizen to not perform his/her duty to vote.

REVERSE RAFFLE

The Catholic War Veterans Post 613 is having a Reverse Raffle on Saturday, November 11, at the Lithuanian Club. Tickets are $50 each (only 100 will be sold), and include a chance at the main board ($2,000), dinner, open bar, and music by the Blues Deville. There will also be several side boards available. Doors open at 6:45. For ticket information, call John Milikas, Jr. at 216-415-5046 or 216-407-0971. All are invited to support the Post and the work they do with veterans by participating in this raffle.

ROOTED IN FAITH

Last week we received our quarterly distribution of $773.00 from the Rooted In Faith Campaign. As this campaign winds down for our Parish, we are all reminded to pay off our pledges before the end of this year. As of today, we have received $58,527.00 from this campaign. This represents 30% of the funds donated from you to the campaign. Because of your generosity, both our parish and our diocese have been able to carry out our mission as Church in our neighborhood and in our diocese.

NOVEMBERFEST

All are invited to Borromeo Seminary’s Novemberfest Annual Italian Dinner which will take place on Saturday, November 11th, from 5-8pm at the Center for Pastoral Leadership, 28700 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. The evening will include a 50-50 Raffle and a Basket Raffle. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, children under 6 admitted free. All proceeds benefit the activity fund for the college seminarians.

Several weeks ago, I received a call from a parishioner about one of our older members being in an assisted living facility for several months and wondering why I have never visited him. I had a simple answer... no one told me that the individual was in the facility. That experience got me wondering... how many of our people are in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and rehabilitation centers that I don’t know about?

One of the most important ministries of the Church is to visit the sick and offer them the consolation of the sacraments. Currently, when I go on my First Friday calls, I visit parishioners in our neighborhood, then in Euclid, and as far as Chardon to the east and then as far as Fairview Park to the west. When I can’t go out on the First Friday of the month because of a funeral or another obligation, I go out on the Second Friday.

When someone is released from the hospital to a facility, I have no way of knowing this as hospitals need to follow strict privacy laws. So if you know of someone who is in an assisted living facility or another long term care facility, have them, or a member of their family, contact me so I can schedule regular visits from either myself of one of our Eucharistic ministers who help me with this ministry.

There are many things I do in the parish both administratively and sacramentally and all of them are done to help meet your spiritual needs. One of the most important things I do is visit the sick and the infirm. I cannot do it unless I know who they are and where they live. So if you are confined to a facility or can’t come to Church, be sure and let me know, or have someone contact me on your behalf.

God Bless!   Fr. Joe Bacevice
