PASTORAL
COUNCIL:
This
weekend we begin the nominating process for new members of our Pastoral
Council. This year, we will be electing four members to our Pastoral Council
for a two year term beginning January 1, 2019. Application forms are
available in the Book Room and will be accepted through November 4, 2018.
Voting will begin November 18th and conclude December 2nd.
Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, eligible
to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously
consider serving on this important advisory body in our Parish.
SURVEY
As
part of our ongoing effort to improve our fund-raising, the Pastoral Council
has developed a survey to help plan fund- raising events for our parish. A
copy of the survey is enclosed with this bulletin. It is also available
online at our website
www.saintcasimirparish.org or
link directly to the survey by typing in:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3FGFL9G.
We ask everyone to complete the survey. The results will help us make better
decisions regarding fund raising events in the parish.
FALL
FUND RAISER
Our
Eighth Annual Clambake/Steak Bake/Autumn Raffle will take place on
Saturday, October 27th, beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our
upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church.
All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets,
as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone.
This year we have a new caterer and are able to lower the prices and
improve the quality of our food. Dinner tickets are now available
after all the Masses at the main entrance to the church and in the hall
after the 10:00 Mass. They can also be purchased during the week at the
rectory during business hours. Ticket prices are: Clambake - $30, Steak-bake
- $35, extra dozen clams - $10. In addition to great food, there will be
plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles, and much more.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help with this project: to
set up, clean up, bake, and help in other ways. Please sign up in the
church’s main entrance to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on
October 27th.
PROGRAM BOOK
Again this year, we are printing a program book for our
Fall Fund-Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are
invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish.
An ad can be placed in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in
everyone’s ticket envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of
the church. Everyone is invited to participate.

On the cover of our weekly bulletin, we welcome new people to our Parish and
invite them to register. I’m often asked: “Why register?” There are many
reasons. For the Parish, it gives us a better picture of our Parish. We are
required to report statistics to the diocese which are used to determine the
size of our diocese. These numbers are sent to Rome each year to there can be an
accurate count of the number of Catholics in the world. The information we
obtain from registrations helps us plan programs and events that will meet the
needs of our people. Simply knowing the age of our members can help us design
programs of religious education for our young people, assess the need for
communion ministers to the homebound, and make plans for our future. We can also
keep accurate records regarding contributions to the parish. For registered
members, there is a sense of belonging to a faith community, the ability to
fully participate in the life of the parish, determining jurisdiction for the
sacrament of matrimony, and having a say in what happens in our Parish.
As we continue to see new people come to our parish, we invite them to
register. For those who have been coming here for a long time, we invite you to
make the commitment of joining our parish community. I also want you to know
that we do not share any personal information with any other organization
including the Diocese.
Registration forms are conveniently located in the Book Room off the main
entrance to the church, they can be picked up at the Rectory during business
hours (Mon-Fri 10:00 am to 6:00 pm), or just give us a call, and we’ll be happy
to mail one out.
American Express used to advertise that “Membership has its privileges.”
The same is true of St. Casimir Parish.

PLEASE PRAY
We
ask you to remember in your prayers the soul of Anthony Prinzo who died last
week and was buried from our Parish. May he have eternal rest in the peace
of God’s kingdom.
MASS OF ANOINTING
We
will celebrate the Mass of the Anointing of the Sick on Sunday, October
14, at 12:00 noon. We encourage our older members and those with chronic
illnesses to participate at that Mass and receive this important Sacrament
of healing.
THANK YOU
We thank everyone who
worked and supported our pancake breakfast last Sunday. 105 people enjoyed
the breakfast. After all expenses were paid, $355.00 was given to the
Parish.
