PASTORAL COUNCIL NEWS

During the month of October, we solicited nominations to fill four seats on our Pastoral Council. We had four nominations submitted, and all four members are appointed to our Pastoral Council for a two year term. We welcome Nancy Anzlovar, Anthony Bacevice, Giedre Jesmantas and Judy Kowalski. They join Ingrid Civinskas, Mary Ann Pecek, Ted Egan, Faye Roth, and Debra Zeledonis. Father Bacevice will name one member to the Council next month.

A SPECIAL DAY OF REFLECTION:

For those who love someone who is incarcerated, there will be a special day of reflection on Sunday, December 3, at the Jesuit Retreat House, 5629 State Rd. Parma, from 10:00 - 3:00, registration is at 9:30. Enjoy a day of reflection and time for quiet prayer as well as time to share a delicious meal with others and attend Mass. There is no charge for this event; it has been made possible by a gift from a group who cares about you. RSVP to Paula at the Parish Life Office: 216-696-6525, ext. 3500 and let her know how many will be attending.

GIVING TUESDAY

You have heard about Black Friday and Cyber Monday - now you can share your blessings on Tuesday, November 28 - Giving Tuesday. That day people around the globe are asked to contribute to their favorite charities and non-profits. Our Parish is one of the institutions taking part this year. Use your computer or smartphone on Tuesday, November 28 to access www.weGiveCatholic.org  Search the list of participants and donate to your favorites (don’t forget St. Casimir). In the spirit of the season, remember to Give Catholic on Giving Tuesday.

COFFEE SCHEDULE

The 2018 10:00 Mass Coffee Schedule is being prepared. We invite all organizations and parish families to host these coffee socials. We are always looking for new people to serve as hosts. The parish provides the coffee and supplies; you need only to bring the baked goods, put on the coffee, be a good host, and clean up afterward.

FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK

We recently revived our parish Facebook page and are updating it at least weekly. Find out what is going on in the parish by liking us on Facebook.

Thursday of this week is Thanksgiving Day, the holiday set aside each year for us to pause and give thanks to God for all that we have. Too many times we allow ourselves to become critics and complainers. It seems that we can always find things to criticize in our society and in our Church.

On Thanksgiving Day, we are reminded to look beyond the problems and difficulties and look at what we do have. Even our poorest people have a place to live and food to eat. We have access to health care and we have a voice in our government. As people of faith, we have much for which we are thankful. We are free to practice our faith and we have a loving God who watches over us.

On this Thanksgiving Day, let us all take time to offer a prayer of thanks to God for all the gifts we have received. Let us also remember those who have less than we do. Let us renew our efforts to help everyone  improve their lives so we can continue to grow as people and as a society of justice, of peace and of love.

One of the best ways we can offer thanks is to worship together as a community. On Thanksgiving day, everyone in the parish is invited to gather for the celebration of Mass at 9:00am.
                                                                  God Bless!

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS

Remember in your prayers the souls of Kari Secriskey, Ronald Vysnionis and Lenore Leanza who died last week and were buried from our Parish. May they have eternal rest in the peace of God’s kingdom.

OFFICES CLOSED

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. Because of the holiday, our offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday this week.

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

“The Church’s love for the poor is part of her constant tradition.” (Catechism, #2444). THIS weekend’s Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) needs your support. With the tradition of improving education, housing situations and economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in communities locally and nationwide. Defend human dignity. Please give to the CCHD Collection.

GIVING TREE

Our Holy Name Society is again sponsoring a Giving Tree to assist families in our own Parish who are in need of “a little help” at Christmas. The items on the ornaments are various gift and food cards. Simply choose an ornament, purchase the gift card, and return it either in the collection basket, at the Rectory or give them to any member of the Holy Name Society by December 10th. They will be distributed to the families before Christmas.
