BLANKET SUNDAY

The weekend of October 13-14, marks the 32nd Annual Blanket Sunday Collection to aid the needy. This collection is sponsored by the Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Due to a lack of storage space, we will gratefully accept your donation and do the shopping for you, making your money go even further with bulk purchases of blankets and other items needed by the homeless and disadvantaged. So “blanket” someone for the winter – and give yourself a warm feeling! You may also donate online at www.svdpcle.org

PASTORAL COUNCIL

We have begun the nominating process for new members of our Pastoral Council. This year, we will be electing four members to our Pastoral Council for a two year term beginning January 1, 2019. Application forms are available in the Book Room and will be accepted through November 4, 2018. Voting will begin November 18th and conclude December 2nd. Any member of the parish, age 16 and older, with a few exceptions, eligible to run for a seat on the Pastoral Council. We invite you to seriously consider serving on this important advisory body in our Parish.

FALL FUND RAISER

Our Eighth Annual Clambake/Steak Bake/Autumn Raffle will take place on Saturday, October 27th, beginning after the 5:30 Mass in our upper hall. Raffle tickets are now available at the back of the Church. All parishioners are asked to pick up their envelope with Raffle tickets, as this will save us the cost of mailing them to everyone.
This year we have a new caterer and are able to lower the prices and improve the quality of our food. Dinner tickets are now available after all the Masses at the main entrance to the church and in the hall after the 10:00 Mass. They can also be purchased during the week at the rectory during business hours. Ticket prices are: Clambake - $30, Steak-bake - $35, extra dozen clams - $10. In addition to great food, there will be plenty of refreshments, a basket auction, split raffles, and much more.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help with this project: to set up, clean up, bake, and help in other ways. Please sign up in the church’s main entrance to help us out. We look forward to seeing everyone on October 27th.
PROGRAM BOOK Again this year, we are printing a program book for our Fall Fund-Raiser. Parishioners, Parish Organizations, and businesses are invited to advertise or send their greetings showing support for our Parish. An ad can be placed in the book for as little as $10. Ad forms are in everyone’s ticket envelope. Additional forms are available at the back of the church. Everyone is invited to participate.

Friday, November 2nd, is the Feast of All Souls, the day we remember our dead. The three traditional All Souls Day Masses will be offered at 7:30am (English), 12:00 noon (English) and 7:00 pm (Lithuanian). Following the evening Mass we will have the traditional Lithuanian All Souls procession and prayers for the dead.

We invite families who have lost a loved one since last November 2nd, to participate in the commemoration. An All Souls Day envelope is included with the offering envelopes with space to include the names of the dead you want to be remembered in the Masses. In addition, All Souls Day candles will be available at the Rectory which can be inscribed with the name of the deceased you want remembered. These candles will burn for 5 days beginning on November 2nd. The donation for the All Souls Day candle is $5. All are invited to participate in this commemoration.

God Bless ! Fr. Joe Bacevice

MASS OF ANOINTING

We will celebrate the Mass of the Anointing of the Sick on Sunday, October 14, at 12:00 noon. We encourage our older members and those with chronic illnesses to participate at that Mass and receive this important Sacrament of healing.

SPEND TIME WITH THE LORD

Friday, October 5th, is the First Friday of the month. We will have our First Friday Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament in the Church from 8-9 am. All are invited to stop in and spend some time in quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. There will be no Wednesday evening adoration in October.

SURVEY

As part of our ongoing effort to improve our fund raising, the Pastoral Council has developed a survey to help plan fund raising events for our parish. A copy of the survey is enclosed with this bulletin. It is also available online at our website www.saintcasimirparish.org or link directly to the survey by typing in: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3FGFL9G.  We ask everyone to complete the survey. The results will help us make better decisions regarding fund raising events in the parish.

CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN

This weekend, our parish will accept donations for the Catholic Communications Campaign. These offerings help communicate the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese and support local needs. Please be generous.
