CLUSTER PENANCE SERVICE

All are invited to participate in the Annual Collinwood Cluster Penance Service which will take place on Monday, December 18th, at 7:00pm at St. Jerome Parish. Priests from our cluster parishes (St. Casimir, St. Jerome, St. Mary, and Holy Redeemer) will be available for individual confessions during the service. Come and join us for this opportunity to reflect on our lives and prepare for the coming of Christ through the reception of the Sacrament of Penance.

PEACE LIGHT

The “Peace Light” movement began 1986 in Austria, when a child lit a lantern off of a light in the grotto of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. The flame was carried back to Austria and throughout Europe by the scouts. It was brought to New York in 2001 and placed at Ground Zero. It has been brought back each year since then. Our Lithuanian Scouts received this light Nov. 30th and have placed it in our Church. It will burn in our church through the Advent/Christmas Season as a reminder to all of us to pray and work for peace in our homes and in our neighborhoods, our country and throughout the world.

GIVING TREE

Our Holy Name Society is again sponsoring a Giving Tree to assist families in our own Parish who are in need of “a little help” at Christmas. The items on the ornaments are various gift and food cards. Simply choose an ornament, purchase the gift card, and return it either in the collection basket, at the Rectory or give them to any member of the Holy Name Society by December 10th. They will be distributed to the families before Christmas.

CHRISTMAS WAFERS and 2018 CALENDARS

Traditional Christmas Wafers are available at the main entrance to the Church at Mass times, in the lower hall after the 10:00 Mass and at the Rectory during the week. Please use the special envelopes provided; the suggested donation for each wafer is $1.

Our 2018 Church calendars are available on the tables in the main lobby of the Church. We thank our friends and fellow parishioners at the Jakubs Funeral Home for providing them again this year.

CHRISTMAS FLOWER DONATIONS

The Altar Society decorates the church each Christmas with live flowers. Your current envelope packet has an envelope marked “Christmas Flowers.” Please help decorate the Church by making a donation for Christmas flowers.

PERPETUAL HELP IN THE KITCHEN – A GREAT GIFT!

Our parish cookbook, “Perpetual Help in the Kitchen, 2017” edition would make a great gift for someone special. The books are available at the Rectory during the week and can be ordered and picked up after the weekend Masses. The price is $25. We can also ship them for a small fee. For more information, call the parish office during regular business hours or reach us by email: laura@saintcasimirparish.org

COFFEE SCHEDULE

The 2018 10:00 Mass Coffee Schedule is being prepared. We invite all organizations and parish families to host these coffee socials. We are always looking for new people to serve as hosts. The parish provides the coffee and supplies; you need only to bring the baked goods, put on the coffee, be a good host, and clean up afterward.

Today marks the beginning of a new Liturgical Year and the beginning of Advent. Advent is the time of year when we are reminded to prepare ourselves for our Lord’s coming.

The Scripture readings of this season tell of the different times in our faith heritage when the people were waiting for deliverance, longing to be with God. As the writers of Scripture reflect on a sinful past, they encourage repentance as a condition for deliverance. This season reminds us to reflect on our past, make efforts to make things right in our lives and to eagerly wait for our own deliverance.

As we look forward to the Coming of the Lord, let us wait with patience, love, repentance and forgiveness.
                                                                  God Bless!
