This weekend we celebrate Veterans Day (November 11th).
When we reflect on how our nation was able to grow and prosper in
freedom and be a beacon of hope to a troubled world, much of this
was due because of the commitment of those who served in the armed
forces.
At the end of May each year, on Memorial Day, we remember those
who have died in service to their country, and in November, on this
Veterans Day, we honor those who have faithfully served. There is a
special bond among Veterans, where the young and the healthy take
care of the old and infirm, and they all work together for the
betterment of our country. So remember to thank the Veterans who
have served both in war and in peace and offer your support to their
organizations who do so much to care for Veterans in need and to
promote patriotism in the United States. May God bless our veterans.

PLEASE PRAY
 We
ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Deacon Edward McCarthy and
David Perez (father of Bishop Perez). May they live forever in the joy of the
Resurrection.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
 We
will have Adoration on Wednesday, November 14th
from 6-7pm. We invite everyone in the
Parish to spend some time in
quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN
DEVELOPMENT (CCHD)
 “The
Church’s love for the poor...is a part of her constant tradition.” (Catechism,
2444). Next weekend’s offering for the Catholic Campaign Human Development (CCHD)
needs your support. With the tradition of improving education, housing
situations and economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact on
communities locally and nationwide. Please be generous as your participate in
this tradition next weekend.

is a continuing effort to instruct and inform everyone about the protection of
children from sexual abuse. Report any past or present suspected inappropriate
behavior toward children by priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers
or personnel associated with the Church, to the Diocesan Response

GIVING TUESDAY
 You
have heard about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, now you can share your
blessings on Tuesday, November 27 - Giving Tuesday.
All day around the globe people are asked to contribute to their favorite
charities and non-profits. The Diocese of Cleveland asks you to be part of
Northeast Ohio’s Online Day of Catholic Giving: #weGiveCatholic,
which allows you to contribute to over 160 Catholic schools, parishes,
Catholic Charities programs and sites, ministries and other Catholic
non-profits in Northeast Ohio.

taking part this year. Simply use your computer or smartphone on
Tuesday, November 27 to access the website

Then search the list of participants and donate to your favorites
(don’t forget St. Casimir). In the spirit of the season, remember to

NEWS FROM ST MARY
COLLINWOOD
The annual Fall Festival
will be Sunday, November 18th from 1 to 7pm, at St. Mary’s
Hall, 15519 Holmes Ave. All are invited to enjoy games, food, basket raffle,

REMEMBERING CLOISTERED COMMUNITIES
 Each
year there is a special day set aside for Cloistered Communities of women
and men who are a tremendous gift to the Church. Pope Pius XII first
instituted this ecclesial worldwide event in 1953. Pope St. John Paul II
later expanded this worldwide event in 1997, to be celebrated each year on
the Memorial of Mary’s Presentation in the Temple. This day was established
to provide spiritual and material support to Cloistered Communities.
In our modern world, we don’t really think that these groups still
exist. Presently we have three Cloistered Communities in our diocese: Carmel
of the Holy Family, OCD; Poor Clare Colettines, PCC; and Poor Clares of
Perpetual Adoration, PCPA. We are encouraged to pray for these
communities on the weekends of November 10-11, November 17–18, and on
Wednesday, November 21, the Memorial of the Presentation of Mary in the
Temple.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS
Too many women, men and
children are subjected to controlling or abusive behaviors including harsh
words, insults and threats, silence and isolating behavior, controlling
money, isolating from other family members and friends, displays of tempers
that are frightening, throwing or breaking things, hitting grabbing,
punching or choking. Break the cycle of abuse in relationships that too
often passes on from generation to generation. Hope and help are available.
