At this time of year, we are in what is known as the “holiday
season.” Thanksgiving was last Thursday, and in a few weeks we will
celebrate Christmas. It is a beautiful time of the year and for many
of our older members it can be a difficult time of the year.
As pastor of our Parish, I am concerned about the welfare of
our older members. With the weather turning colder, and snow being a
part of the weather forecast for the next four months, I worry about
our older members’ safety. The cold weather can be dangerous as snow
and icy conditions can make getting out of the house dangerous. I
urge all our seniors and those with “mobility issues” to be very
careful when outside. When the weather is threatening, it is better
to be safe inside rather than trying to go out. We do what we can to
keep our property open and safe. But please be careful in the
parking lots and when coming into the Church or the Hall.
I also worry about our seniors’ isolation. Many are widows and
widowers who often find themselves alone. So I ask our younger
members to look in on our older members, offer assistance to those
who need it, or just be a friend to someone who is alone.
Also, for those who can’t come to Church during the winter
months, contact the Church office to schedule a time when I can come
to visit with the sacraments. I try to visit every month, usually on
the First Friday. I want everyone to be safe this winter season.

PLEASE PRAY
We
ask you to remember in your prayers the souls of Viktoras Laniauskas and
Barbara Riggan who died recently and were buried from our Parish. May they live
forever in the joy of the Resurrection.
MEETING
We remind everyone of the
meeting of parishioners to discuss the issue of clergy abuse and to express
their feelings regarding this scandal in the Church. It will take place on
Tuesday, December 4, at 7:00pm in the Church and is open to anyone who is
interested, whether they are a parishioner or not. The intent of this meeting is
to give all of us a greater understanding of this problem, what is being done,
and most importantly, to give those who are in need, an opportunity to begin the
healing process.
THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW
After all expenses
were paid, we are pleased to announce that our 2018 Clambake and Autumn Raffle
made a profit of $8,340, and was attended by 155 parishioners and friends. Thank
you for your support.
Also, we are happy to
announce that we recently contracted a job to replace the handicapped entrance
to the Church. The steps and landing are being replaced, and we are waiting for
three good weather days to complete the job. We thank Edward Klich
for donating $5,800 - the entire cost for this project. |
ADVENT VESPER SERVICE:
St. Jerome Parish will host
this year’s Collinwood Cluster Advent Evening Prayer, on Monday, December
3, at 7:00pm. It has been a tradition for the Collinwood Parishes (Holy
Redeemer, St. Casimir, St. Mary, and St. Jerome) to begin the Advent season
together in prayer. All are invited to share an evening of praise, song and
benediction with this ancient prayer of the Church.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES:
Father
Bacevice received a letter from Bishop Perez in which he writes: “With
wholehearted joy and gratitude, I thank and congratulate you and the
parishioners of St. Casimir Parish on reaching your 2018 Catholic Charities
Annual Appeal goal. Your compassionate leadership and the generosity of
those who have supported this campaign are already transforming lives and
communities throughout Northeast Ohio.” Our parish goal for 2018 was
